Mangalore, Sep 13: A pickup vehicle transporting cattle illegally toppled near Natekal curve road after its driver lost control. The incident occurred near Natekal in the early hours of Friday September 13.

The impact of the incident was such that out of the 18 cattle and calf, 8 cows and 2 calves died. The driver escaped from the spot.

The pickup vehicle (KA 20 6759) plying from Mudipu to Natekal toppled near the curve on the road and fell into the gorge and as the cows and calves fell under the vehicle, they were killed.

Meanwhile, the driver of a milk van passing by came to the rescue. The driver Chethan and Sunil who was with him tied a rope to the pickup van and lifted the vehicle, and thus saved a few cows.

At around 2 am, Konaje inspector Sudhakar along with other officials took the cattle to the police station. The carcasses were also cleared.

The pickup vehicle was seized by the police and search is on to catch the driver.

It is learnt that the cattle were stolen from areas like Mudipu, Kunardu, Sajeepa, Boliyaru and were being taken to a slaughterhouse in Chembugudde.

    Dear readers,

It is better to import beef other countries to discourage this type of illegal trafficking. If govt. issues more import licences, supply will supercede the demand and prices will tumble.Hence this part time cow theft will come to halt.

Kind request to Muslim brother discourage beef eating from this illegal supply.

As election are closing in it may be be burning issue for some political affiliation and law order may be challenged.

Catch all the cattle thieves, tie their legs and hands with the ropes in same manner, load them in the same pickup van, drive for 2-3 hours in roughest roads,
finally bring them to netravathi bridge, drown them to death by throwing into the river.

Stop Stealing, Stop Corruption, Stop Rape, Stop Murders but dont stop eating. There are many other major issues to look after. Let law punish the Punish these thieves. Already Indian law is so strong, Minor can rape, Politicians can kill people & can become PM candidate. Why should we take law in our hands, I mean stop eating cows?

I pity for the driving skills of drivers who are pretty inexperienced. Driving a vehicle with fluid load is always dangerous and tough challenge. Driving takers such as milk, oil etc. which are liquids will pose serious challenge near curves, ups n downs along the route. Driver needs special skill to control vehicle during breaking or accelerating. Liquid will be always in motion doe to forces at play and could potentially throw away vehicle is force gets concentrated in a wrong place/direction.

This particular pick-up vehicle was loaded with stolen cows and naturally driver was driving with anxiety. Cows do move around and might cause toppling near steep curve if all cows get pushed to corner. Centrifugal force will be too tough to deal with in this kind of situations n accident/loss of life is guaranteed.

Talking about the crime, I think these criminals should be subjected to serious treatment. these rogues are spoiling peace-of-mind of owners of cows as well as causing damage to livelihood of people who depend on milk n organic manure.

Who will compensate this huge loss in terms of material loss n loss of peace of mind ? I hate to talk about this issue repeatedly, I dont know who wil take control of these thugs ???

A cow costs in the excess of Rs.10k and a calf costs ~Rs.2k. Assuming there were equal number of cows and calfs (I am sure cows were more), the value of the theft is Rs. One Lakh & Eight Thousand. Now who among those who commented and ridiculed here are ready to lose Rs. 1 Lakhs? The value of the hiest is Rs. 1Lakhs.

Whom to blame now.. If the roads were good, accident would not have happened. If beef was made legal, thefts would have reduced and illegal transportation would have stopped..

When there is a supply, there is always a demand... It's quite foolish to say ban beef, pork etc.. Beef burgers and steak are the best in the world.. Full of protein and its so tasty too..Iron man Siddu make everything legal, this is what Gandhiji said 'first they will ignore you, then they will laugh at you, then they fight you and then you win'..

Now there might be a big protest again led by a 3 year old cute leader :)

Its not anymore top secret that wherever illegal cow slaughter houses operates, its under the nose of local police stations for MAMOOLI on monthly basis. If the slaughter house itself illegal, then there is more chance of cattles which is brought through theft.

So if it is a genuine effort to tackle this issue its not at all a tough task,Catch the police personnel involving in it n take strict action. As of now it looks like only a way of disturbing peace in the society rather than preventing cow theft/illegal slaughter house.

Politics, religions, eating habits keep apart for a minute. the incidence is just an example of rape, cruelty and exploitation of human beings against helpless animals. Every day dozens of calves, puppys, cats are beeing run over by speeding vehicles.People throw stones at them, just for fun!! Please note that these poor creatures do have their right to live and survive. Just because they can not vote political parties wont protest. Same holds good with religious leaders or government officials. Shame on you 'selfish human being', who made 'hell' for the poor animals!!

    1. Murders have increased
    2. Cow trafficking has increased.
    3. Yasin Bhatkal prepared explosives in Mangalore.
    4. daily arms and other ammunitions are caught.etc

Seems like days of beautiful Mangalore city are gone.

This is nothing but a clear failure of the law and order situation in the district.

BJP is taught a lesson now Congress must wake up and ensure Law and order is prevailing in the District or else they too will face what BJP is facing

Very severe punishment should be given to the concerned if it is proved that these cattle were stolen to teach a lesson to others to refrain from cattle stealing. In the meantime state government should ease this trade by providing licenses to cattle slaughtering at least in Taluk head quarters. Or else as far as there is demand for beef this tendency will continue.
