Mangalore: National flag hoisted upside down at NMPT

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore

Mangalore, Sep 15: In an apparent slip that amounted to insult, the national flag was found hoisted upside down at the New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) at Panambur here, causing embarassment to the officials.

Sources said that the CRPF officials of NMPT hoisted the flag in the wrong way on Saturday September 14.

However, even till afternoon, none of the CRPF or NMPT officials noticed the error.

Later, a reporter of a national media channel who was passing by spotted the flag and brought it to the attention of NMPT officials.

He also called Panambur police inspector Cheluvaraj to investigate the matter.

CRPF officials of NMPT then hoisted the flag again in the correct manner in the presence of the people who had gathered.

Couple of years ago a similar lapse had occurred in a high school in the outskirts of Mangalore and the Headmaster of the school was arrested and penalized for this fault. If a school official could pay the penalty why not the responsible officials of NMPT? You mean to say the flag is hoisted and not saluted? when you hoist flag your eyes are on the flag. How come the officials did not notice this fault. This means the person who hoisted did not know the sequence of colours of our National flag. What a shame!!!!

I think it is a mistake, but Police should investigate on this. We have the Law & should punish accordingly, if found guilty.

At least they hoisted the flag and corrected when it was brought to their notice!! Look at most politicians...they walk over and wipe their feet on national principles! This is a small error and always pardonable one!

This is not error. This is Chaltha hai attitude which we see in every aspect of Indian life....such as late for a meeting....no rules when driving....no finesse and quality in work etc. Imagine CRPF doing this and we term it an error. In spite of advance information, explosions take place in India and we term it an error
