Udupi: As people protest, H K Patil says forms 9, 11 issues will be resolved

Udupi, Sep 16: “It has been seen that forms 9 and 11 relating to land conversion, purchase and sale have been creating major confusion in Udupi and D K, especially in rural areas and many memorandums have been received in this matter. The issue will be resolved soon,” said H K Patil, minister for rural development and Panchayat Raj.

He was speaking with media persons during the inauguration of New 1.5 Tesla MRI machine at Shirdi Sai Cancer Center, Kasturba Hospitals, on Monday September 16.

“I held discussions at the district Congress committees in Mangalore and Udupi on this issue. As it is a high court decision, it is applicable to South Canara, Udupi, North Canara, Shimoga, and Kodagu districts. Revenue and other ministers of the cabinet will have a meeting for the same on September 19 and September 21 to clear the bottlenecks in this issue,” he added.

On the order stipulating dress code for government employees, he said, “Uniform for government employees is a small effort by the government to bring about a feeling of togetherness. All should obey it. Decision on dress code was taken after much deliberation and it should not be projected negatively."

On Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi's nomination as BJP's PM candidate, he said, “Senior leader L K Advani is an experienced man and if he states that Modi cannot win the upcoming election, then there is nothing more for the rest to say or hope for. If Advani cannot trust Narendra Modi, how can the Indian electorate and BJP leaders trust him?"

Vinay Kumar Sorake, minister for urban development, Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA, Udupi, and Dr Ramdas M Pai, chancellor, Manipal University, presided over the function.

 

Protests in Kundapur and Karkala

Kundapur/Karkala, Sep 16: Earlier in the day, a symbolic protest meeting was held in Kundapur and Karkala to draw the attention of the government with regard to forms 9 and 11 and anomalies in the revenue department.

"Confusion has set in conversion, purchase and sale of. The officials who should help people and solve their problems, are arrogant and stubborn. If the situation continues, we will be protesting in front of the office of the deputy commissioner," said advocate T B Shetty in Kundapur.
 
The protestors put forth various demands such as:

- The necessary form numbers 9 and 11 should be issued by the panchayats;
 - The insistence for no objection certificate from the department of urban development should be given up;
- Gram panchayat should issue confirmation for conversion, sale and purchase of land that is outside the urban development area; - There should be a concession in reservation of one acre of land;
- Seven metres of road should be made compulsory for land larger than 50 cents;
- People constructing houses on 5 to 10 cents sites should be exempted from land conversion;
- The tahsildar should be authorized to convert sites within 0.5 acre in area;
- The requirement of gram panchayat permission for construction of houses should be done away with;
- An amount of Rs 25 lac should be sanctioned for urgent basic facilities at the office of special tahsildar and tahsildar should be authorized for changes in form 9 and 11.
 
A memorandum was sent to the chief minister through the tahsildar in Kundapur.

A Kundapur unit protest committee was formed on the occasion. Advocate Balachandra Shetty was elected as honorary president and advocate Srinath Rao was elected as president of the committee. Suresh Bettin, Dinesh Karanth, Molahalli Ganesh Shetty, Kemachanur Somashekar Shetty, Ravischandra Shetty and document writer Sudhakar Shetty were elected as vice-presidents. Advocate B Prakash Shetty was elected as secretary. Udaya Kumar N, Gangolli Sadananda Shenoy, Yasin, Hemmady, Michael D’Souza, Gopadi Ganesh Bhat, document writer V Babu, advocate Pramod Hamade, Arun Mendonca, Satish Kotian, Ballal Kishore, Kolkere Arun Kumar Shetty, Sudhakar Kharvi, Ajay Havaldar, Ganesh Poojary, Satwadi Satish Shetty, Thekkatte Prasad Havaldar and Krishna Murthi Achar were elected as joint secretaries.

    But who is going to handle the illegal land deals done by tahsildar and panchayat. Do you all think money is not scationed to maintain the office, but it goes to maintain their own house. How many illegal land conversion and selling done with wrong land value in Udupi, Brahmavar and Kundapur.

    Blue boy had come up with a rule that no one can build a house in mangalore if the land is below 3 cents. The reason behind this was that his real estate biz be developed and sold @ a higher price and this was the prime reason for the land price to reach the sky in Mangalore. Whom to blame now and Middle class people are suffering by paying the rent and its not affordable by a middle class person to buy @......

    9, 11 forms have become padradd with past BJP govt.
    100% correct that Advaniji told that Feku will lose 14. No doubt in that. If BJP's senior leader says this then why someone else has to say about Feku losing 14.
