Bangalore, Sep 17 : Bangalore police have arrested Mamatha Murthy, general secretary of Chikkaballapur women Congress unit for assaulting youths in Chikkaballapur under the influence of alcohol. The court has sent her to judicial remand till September 29.

It is learnt that Congress leader Murthy had sponsored the Ganeshotsava event in Chikkaballapur on the condition that she should be felicitated during the event. However, despite paying money, the organizers did not felicitate her, and instead honoured two police officials, DSP Lavanya and circle inspector Mahesh.

Angered by this, on Sunday night she allegedly abused the youths and assaulted a couple of them, and demanded to know why they honoured police officials who did not donate any money, and ignored her even though she had sponsored the event.

On Monday, local youths gathered in front of Mamatha's residence and protested against her atrocity and demanded her arrest.

As the protest continued until evening, Chikkaballapur city police arrived at Mamatha's residence and arrested her, and later produced her in the court.

The youth did the right Thing.The Lady that too cong.leader wanted that she should be honoured and paid for the celebration.One reserves honour only when the Person did some good deed ,but not when on wants to be.Automatically People honour one ,like Police People without their begging.Money is not everything as she thinks.I think she sold herself.so what willshe do in future as a leader.? Please read the article. She was booked by poli's (sorry POLICE)for what? Because they were honoured. If police are honoured, the youth will get some help for making trouble. If this poor lady is not, they (together) can take care of her (in many ways) with support from each other. Who assaulted youth? Would it be that youth will keep quiet if assaulted? All cooked up. The only problem Mr. Shetty is that even though prohibition is imposed in Gujarat,every brand of liquor is freely available. So much so for prohibition. There are people who will even supply you booze daily on credit and you can pay them at the end of the month.

Why such cheap leaders exist in our midst ? This lady must be taught a lesson. She should have sponsored Ganeshotshava whole-heartedly without expecting any rewards. She is too cheap to be in politics and public life. Women too are becoming like men by drinking alcohol n indulging in violence. This is a clear case of claiming equality in terms of drinking n conducting violence like some male-counterparts. Good going !!!
