Udupi: JCI contest brings out the best in married couples

Udupi, Sep 17: A fun-filled and entertaining ideal couple competition for married couples marked the Jaycee week celebrations at Udyavar Soundarya Residency hall here on Sunday September 15.

Sridhar P S, JCI regional president for region number 15, inaugurated the proceedings and lauded JCI Kuthpady unit for organizing an ideal couple competition.

"JCI is an organization engaged in the development of personality and leadership qualities among people, which strengthen family bonds and create a healthy society."

Former regional president Y Sukumar, industrialist Rajesh Karkera Kaup, Vilas Nayak and Gram panchayat president Vijaya Kumar Udyavar were present on the dais.

Retired bank official U Narayan and his wife set the Jayalaxmi ideal couple competition in motion.

Recalling his journey of 48 years of married life, Narayan advised the couples with useful tips for a happy married life. He praised the work done by the Jaycees.

The presence of Tulu drama and film star Bhojaraj Vamanjoor and emerging film star Sukrita Wagle was a special attraction. Acting, jokes, music and dance by Bhojaraj Vamanjoor and Sukrita Wagle during intervals delighted the audience.

Twenty-four couples participated in the ideal couple competition and the first prize was awarded to Santhosh Suvarna couple. Second prize was given to Gokuldas couple and the third prize was won by Kiran Kamath couple.

Five consolation prizes and several other prizes were distributed by owners of Jayalaxmi Silks, Dr Veerendra Heggade couple and film star Sukrita Wagle. The programme was conducted by Jaycee Rajendra Bhat and group.

Kuthpady unit president Jaycee Michael D’Souza, presided over the programme. Former president Jaycee Ramesh Kumar, director of Jaycee week celebration Jaycee Ashok Palan, Jaycerette Joylet D’ Souza and JJC Nabil Udyavar were also present. Secretary Jaycee Dayanada Shetty thanked the gathering.
