Dharamsala, Sep 18 (IANS): The Tibetan parliament-in-exile Wednesday asked the new Chinese leadership to adopt a realistic approach on the issue of Tibet and resolve the problem with the Tibetan leadership through dialogue.

The parliament-in-exile, whose session began here Wednesday, unanimously passed resolutions to express solidarity with the Tibetans who set themselves afire for the cause of Tibet, a statement said here.

The Central Tibetan Administration, based here, said 120 Tibetans have set themselves on fire since February 2009 in Tibet alone and of them, 103 have died.

The international community has been called upon to press the Chinese government to end its "failed policies in Tibet" and a fact-finding delegation be sent to Tibet.

The UN Human Rights Council has been asked to convene a special session over the critical situation in Tibet.

Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, 78, has lived in India since 1959 when he fled his homeland Tibet after a failed uprising against Communist rule. The government-in-exile is based here but is not recognised by any country.
