Bangalore: Infant stolen from auto as mother is busy at shop

Bangalore, Sep 19 (DHNS):
A four-month-old baby boy, whose parents have not named him yet, was stolen from an autorickshaw even as his mother and maternal grandmother were buying medicines at a store at Uttarahalli Circle here on Wednesday.

The boy’s mother, Jyothi, hired an autorickshaw to reach her house after visiting a hospital. Her mother was with her. Jyothi asked the driver to halt at a store so she can buy medicines. She then went to the store, leaving her mother with the baby in the vehicle.

Moments later, she realised she had run out of money and called for her mother.

The old woman then went out of the vehicle, leaving the baby on the passenger seat. She gave Jyothi money and they came back to the autorickshaw shortly thereafter but had the shock of their life: the baby was missing.

When they demanded an explanation from the driver, he claimed he was talking on the mobile phone and had not noticed anything. He maintained he had nothing to do with the baby’s disappearance, and drove away.

Panicked, Jyothi and her mother searched the busy place for the baby but in vain. Later, they lodged a complaint at the Subramanyapura police station.

The boy’s father, G R Sudheendra, learnt about the incident only in the evening. DCP (South), H S Revanna, said the footage of the CCTV cameras at the busy traffic junction would be analysed for a clue. The driver would also be questioned, he added.

Sheer carelessness from both women. If Money was needed she could have come back and take from mother.Leaving alone Baby with a quite unknown Person is really unbelievable. And informing the father late evening also is not acceptable. But how come the Driver didnot notice even when he was on mobile?Or he was giving the tip for Baby to steal .Really a big quiz and many questions and no answer.

Careless parents. How can that lady leave the baby in a auto & go out. Was that baby so heavy for her that she cant carry. This shows the parents heights of negligence.

    Sheer negligence and carelessness.

The Auto-driver must have made best use of the opportunity. Instead of running away, he should have helped these ladies whatever way possible.

Next question, how come, the father comes to know about the incident only in the evening?

Let's hope that the baby will be traced and given back to the parents.

It was hard for me to comment, I am a parent myself and I know how it feels, I don't think the four months old child should be left on the seat, The baby is not weighing 10kg she her mother could easy care this poor child with her, there is no excuse for this type of behavior. What kind of parent do you call this Careless or Caring?

At night 10 o'clock..my dad called me from Manipal and started shouting at me non stop..What was the reason..? I didn't inform my parents when I reached Kerala..!(5 years back story)..in this case, mother left her 4 months child in auto and went to medical shop..UNBELIVABLE..

easy to comment Bryan, but practically it may happen to anybody. Just went to give some money or change to baby's monther who is standing nearby. they wouldn't have imagined that this few seconds may cost them this much. Now it's easy to question why she left, why she didn't have money.. etc. But it's a trgic fell on them... that's all we can say and pray for the baby to be back with parents soon. Of course police need to say on the feasibility...

In the first place we can say negligence by the both ladies but if we think in usual way it can happen to anyone who never ever imagined such thing will happen even the auto driver on seat.
Also i guess the distance between auto n medical was not much.

Now people will cry for cctv in auto too.. kya zamana aagaya re baba..

Hope n wish baby boy is in safe hands n return to parents soon.
