Mangalore, Sep 19: Days after ABVP's massive protest and gherao outside MLA J R Lobo's residence demanding better facilities in government-run hostels, the MLA on Thursday September 19 took decisive action and paid suprise visits to two hostels run by the government.

The hostels he visited were those in Ashoknagar and Kadri.

Lobo visited almost all the rooms, and personally interacted with the students. He listened to their grievances. He also inspected the kitchen, toilets, dining room, store room and examined the standard of maintainence. He instructed the staff to be more dedicated and work towards improving the system.

He further held discussions with the students and urged them to be more focused on studies and make themselves, their parents and their institutions proud.

"The facilities here are considerably better than those in some of the paid private hostels in the city. We have to be thankful to the government for providing us at least these facilities. I will be carrying out more surprise visits to these hostels in the coming days and also, if you are facing any problem, please do bring it to the notice of the people concerned here or the local corporators," he told the students.

He also tasted the food that was ready to be served in the hostel.

Officials Renuka Prasad, Ramu, Arun Furthado, Hemanth, Corporators Nagaveni and Radhakrishna, along with Denis D’Silva, T K Sudhir, Chethan Kumar, Sathish Kumar, Krithin Kumar and others were present.

YOUR THINKING IS GOOD.BUT MR LOBO CANNOT VISIT ALL THESE OFFICES,BECAUSE HE IS A JUST MLA.IF HE WOULD HAVE A MINISTER OR DIST.INCHARGE,HE WOULD HAVE VISITED..ONE ORDINARY MLA DONT HAVE THAT MUCH POWER TO CONDUCT EVERYWHERE SURPRISE VISIT...GIVE HIM A MINISTER LEVEL CHANCE,HE WILL DO DEFINATELY..

Mr. Lobo , please visit the Taluk office RTC kendra. Half the time the computers do not work, the chairs are broken. Only one RTC counter for the entire taluk. Please come and see your ex department and get matters corrected. It is now a herculan task to mutate the RTC pertaining to old documents and get the land converted. I request you to come and see for yourself the state of affairs. Mangalore Taluk office needs atleast 4 RTC counters and not one.

Mr. Lobo, we need you to inspect the RTC kendra at the taluk office. It is in a pathetic condition. After all this was your former department. So you will understand better. Mangalore needs atleast 3-4 RTC counters. To get an RTC one has to waste half a day or more.

I request Udupi MLA Mr.Madwaraj to give surprise visit to Udupi taluk office. Many arrogant officers are there.People are suffering a lot.Let us make govt.offices more people friendly.Besides there is subregistrar's office another mess.We believe our Udupi MLA also reform the district specially public offices. There are plenty clerks with high BP in these offices.Transfer them to Bijapur until they behave normal.

Good response by MLA Mr Lobo. He didnot find politics in the issue though raised by ABVP with ulterior motives. This kind of response and follow up deeds were never heard of from previous MLA in his entire terms. Definitly people will see and feel the change.

My comments are not in support of any political party or against it. If you go through my previous comments you will understand this. I have put such questions for Mr. Yogish Bhat also during BJP rule. You also please try to post your impartial comments. 100 days is not a small period of time for achievements

initially we were thinking as it's initial hype and now it's clear evident that he is the man city was looking for. I have seen many visits he gave like this. Sir, we respect and appreciate this, but expectation goes high. We are looking for a greater Mangalore under your leadership. Take one by one and start clearing those and go ahead... Many such small small stuffs which can be easily handled and closed. People have faith and trust on you. Keep up your greatworks and city will be registering all these and definitley it will pay you back...

Anna Dubai, why didn't you ask this same question to BJP when they ruled Karnataka for 5 years ? Pls. calculate how many days are there in 5 years. What was their contribution to our beloved state other than protecting cows, attacking minority & minority worship place, stealing jackets, chains and birthday cakes of innocent boys and girls, watching blue movie in Vidhana Soudha, raping own friend's wife, looting mines, flying to temples at the cost of tax payers money, Resort meetings, breakfasts and meals ? Mr. Lobo and Mr. Khader are like two eyes of Karnataka. When you were tight lipped for 5 years lousy rule, you have no right to question Mr. Lobo's 100 days achievements. Long live Mr. Lobo.

Mr. Lobo is a humble person. Takes care of his people and has visited many hospitals, markets and hostels etc to study their problems. Agreed. Now he has completed more than 100 days as the MLA of Mangalore. What are the achievements done by him. Simply listening to problems of people is not sufficient. Find a solution and sort it out.
