Mangalore, Sep 19: In a tragic incident, a boy studying in seventh standard committed suicide at Kinya here.

The deceased has been identified as Adarsh (12), son Srinivas and Vinoda, residents of Kinyalaguthu Kundapura.

Vinoda was employed as a maid at Kinya Sharada Vidyalaya and was staying in the quarters with her son.  As Srinivas was employed in a fishing boat, he used to come home once in a month.

Adarsh, the boy, was a seventh standard student at Kolya Joyland English Medium School.

Sources said that he had come home on Wednesday September 18 evening and had pestered his mother for money to buy biscuits.  When she refused, it is said that he hanged himself in the room.

Very sad.Now the parents (Mother)will life Long feel that she only the reason for the Boys suecide for not giving Money.and father will also make mothers mistake.Really here Comes the question should we today as parents give children everything they ask? fearing that they may commit suecide if not meet their Needs?.I say also no.because child also accept sometimes when parents are not in asituation to meet their extra Needs. Here it was certainly a tragic Happening.

May be Boy had seen other children eating biscuites and he had None or others denied him so that wanted Money from mother.or nowadays in certain Schools some children demand Money from other children ,must have threatend him to bring Money since he is new in School ragged him.when he didnt get Money he didnt want to go to School without Money thinking they will rag him more and ended his life.May his Soul be with engels.

Rightly said. There could be other reason. One has to be careful when changing school and need to listen and enquire how the ward is coping with change. We want to give the best educational environment to the children. But somewhere down the line there is a possibility of them getting into loneliness, having bid adiue to their friends from previous school. It is a warning for us parents to be close to children and address their issues rather than putting them into good school which we think will take care of our children.

Suicide and suicidal behaviors usually occur in people with one or more of the following:
    Bipolar disorder
    Borderline personality disorder
    Depression
    Drug or alcohol dependence
    Schizophrenia
Stressful life issues, such as serious financial or relationship problems
People who try to commit suicide are often trying to get away from a life situation that seems impossible to deal with. Many who make a suicide attempt are seeking relief from:
Feeling ashamed, guilty, or like a burden to others
    Feeling like a victim
Feelings of rejection, loss, or loneliness
Suicidal behaviors may occur when there is a situation or event that the person finds overwhelming, such as:
Aging (the elderly have the highest rate of suicide)
    Death of a loved one
    Dependence on drugs or alcohol
    Emotional trauma
    Serious physical illness
    Unemployment or money problems.

people who try to commit suicide often mistakenly believe that they are doing their friends and relatives a favor by taking themselves out of the world.

Do you think it is true? before he was studying in KANNADA MEDIUM school, now he was (2 month before)joined English Medium, may be New environment or high pressure pulled him to commit a suicide, 1 Packet of biscuit is not a reason, Once you Enquir at school/Principal and with friends may be some other reason will be there.

Yes, that could be one of the strongest reason that has made him to take this extreme step. For a 8th standard student to learn all the subjects in English medium all of sudden is not a joke. And may be school environment may also be the reason.

    Mr. Jaimini P.B.
When I was 12 years old, most children I knew had no shoes let alone knowing how to tie the laces. In fact, most did not have any sort of footwear. All walked bare foot to school, which was not uncommon among the peer group across the region then.
It appears the children of today are something else.

Tolerance levels have come to the lowest levels, a small kid committing suicide for not getting biscuits instantly shows it all!!

It is in stark difference to just 2-3 decades ago when children were caned and even whipped and even some strict punishments like kneeling on sand in the hot sun etc. for mistakes even in schools and they would take it in their stride!!

With the media influence, overall worsening of moral fabric, materialism, negative news, and race to overtake others is all leading to such tragic incidents even with kids!!

Today's parents have to think ten times before reprimanding their children even for serious mistakes for fear of taking the "ultimate step"!!! Jai Hind!!
