Kindness at its best: Dog saves orphaned kittens by feeding its milk

Daijiworld Media Network – Madikeri (EP)

Madikeri, Sep 20: Often, when a person behaves savagely, most of us have a tendency to term him an 'animal', but we forget that when it comes to being affectionate and compassionate towards other other beings, humans have a lot to learn from animals.

At a time when human relationships seem selfish and artificial and discrimination still persists at every level in society, a dog has set an example of true kindness and if one may say, 'humanity', by feeding its milk to orphaned kittens.

A pet dog named Gunda in a house belonging to Seethamma in Chetiamane in Madenadu here had delivered a few puppies but somebody had taken them away, thus depriving Gunda the love of its puppies.

Meanwhile, a cat in the same house had given birth to kittens but the mother cat died when it came under the wheels of a vehicle while wandering around. The kittens were deprived of their mother’s milk.

The dog which witnessed the death of the mother cat showed exceptional level of affection and compassion towards the kittens and saw them as its own puppies it had earlier lost. The dog went close to the kittens and made them sleep next to it and also fed them its own milk.

Gunda thus gave life to the kittens which would have otherwise died by now.

Great and inspiring news to read. I feed the neighbour's dog, and while watching the dog's affection while I come home, I have repeatedly told my grown up children " it is better to feed the dogs than many human beings".
We the human beings have gone far away from concern and compassion but deeply rooted in selfishness, will have to learn from the animals especially from the dogs, how caring they are?

I think world is changing -
Human beings are at each others throats, trying to vanquish each other for power\wealth and you name it - all of it.

At the same time Nature is doing it's best to keep friendship alive by making various animals who were afraid of each other earlier, becoming friends with different species - Cat \owl, dog \ leopard cubs, Leopard \ Baby baboon etc.

Can we humans, so called intelligent animal, note these changes in lesser animals and come back to our senses?

Then this planet of ours, will be a wonderful place to live, in harmony.

Unnourished Children: Indeed, you are drawing attention to an urgent issue. According to the U.N. report, 6.6 million children under
5 years old have died in the world due to hunger in 2012. How many crying children we see in front of us? In the U.S. 40% of the food is wasted, which is close to 150 billion dollars in cost/year. If we watch our over-consumption and wastage of food, especially after the marriages of the affluent society, that itself can feed thousands of people.

The wild animals like lions and tigers, kill their prey only when they are hungry. They have no other alternative, because it is their staple food.

But, the selfish man steals the animals, transports them cruelly and kill them violently , just to satisfy his taste bud.

When a human being dies, people write "may his soul rest in peace".

But, the man ignores the fact that animals do have soul when he kills the animals.

I hope atleast some people learn lesson from this article and show empathy towards animals.

Mr C K Dayanand.. I do not support animal killing.. but from your comments it shows u are targeting a certain community...Let me tell u if animals have a soul in them.. Plants and the Vegetables which we eat have a life in them too.. And plants are the reason we live because of the Oxygen we inhale..

Unfortunately we humans cannot learn any lessons from this.
Our politicians who talk of animal rights are inciting people to kill humans.

Some people talk of human rights, but incite people to kill both humans and animals.

These people are worse than politicians.

they are hypocrites, hiding identity and bearing fake names. Killing animals for food is practices by everyone, directly or indirectly, because they are created for feeding human or other animals. That is nature
