Iron ore scam: Another MLA arrested; BJP seeks Santosh Lad's ouster

Bangalore, Sep 20 (PTI): CBI today arrested Independent MLA from Karwar, Satish Sail, owner of Mallikarjuna Shipping Corporation, in a case relating to alleged illegal export of iron ore from Belikeri port in Karnataka.

"Sail was summoned to the CBI office here for interrogation and arrested later," a CBI official told PTI.

He is the second MLA to be arrested in the case this week.

BSR Congress MLA Suresh Babu, a nephew of B Sreeramulu, former minister and close associate of mining baron G Janardhana Reddy, was arrested yesterday.

The scam was exposed by former Karnataka Lokayukta N Santosh Hegde, who in his report, had said 7.74 million tonnes of iron ore were illegally exported between 2006-07 and 2010-11, causing huge loss to the exchequer.

 

BJP meets governor to seek minister Santosh Lad's dismissal

Bangalore, Sep 20 (IANS): A BJP delegation Friday met Karnataka Governor H. R. Bhardwaj here to demanded dismissal of mining baron and state Information Minister Santosh Lad for his alleged involvement in illegal iron ore mining and export.

"We have submitted a memorandum and documents on Santosh Lad's involvement and urged the governor to sack him from the ministry immediately," former chief minister D. V. Sadananda Gowda told reporters outside Raj Bhavan after the meeting.

The Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) leader said the Lokayukta report on illegal iron ore mining scam submitted in 2011 has named V.S. Lad and Company, of which Santosh Lad is partner, as one of the entities involved in illegal iron ore mining and export.

"We will continue our agitation till Santosh Lad is sacked from the ministry," Gowda said.

The delegation was led by state BJP president Pralhad Joshi and included former chief minister Jagadish Shettar, party general secretary and Bangalore South MP H. N. Ananthakumar and several former BJP ministers.

Santosh Lad has denied the allegations.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, however, rejected the BJP demand and told reporters in Bangalore that there was no evidence of Santosh Lad's involvement.

"Will take action if the allegations are proved," he said.

    If Congress is not removed from the center this time, nobody is to blame but us... I dont know if BJP is much better, but this Congress party with a mute PM needs to be punished.. I really wish Manohar Parrikar (Goa CM) could have become PM.

    Before the last Assembly election the Congress party knew that Santhosh Lad was into illegal iron ore mining and export from Bellikere Port near Karwar.Yet they gave him a ticket to stand for election. He should be thrown out as Minister and arrested for inquiry.

    Where Karnataka CID failed, the CBI has succeeded.
    But how is that the FATHER of illegal mining Anil Lad is still out ? Also how that Mangalorean Blue film fame Port & Fishing Minister of BJP ministry has not yet come within the ambit of CBI investigation so far even though at that time he tried to hush up Belikeri Iron Ore theft by transferring honest Officer who blew the lid off this mammoth theft.

    Those who know the Mining History of Karnataka very well know that the Lad brothers, Gorphade brothers & Diwaker babu etc have been living the Reddy lifestyle from past 25 years saliently unlike the Janradhan Reddy's. They have already made money in the nineties and the kickbacks have reached 10 Janpath even then when people of other parts of Karnataka ever knew there existed a Iron ore in their state and somebody is making money out of it. This illegal money was used by the congress terms after terms in elections , that's how they came to power especially in Bellary side, until Janardhan Reddy came into play with the help of Ex Andhra CM YSR Reddy. But today the govt is only targeting the oppositions party people who are accused in the mining scam but their own party people still looting the mines and living life king size in the cabinet.

    The law is catching up slowly but steadily. Now may be non congress MLAs, next will be even congress MLAs if they are guilty. When BJP was in power they were rolling deep in the mines and could not face or appoint lokayuktha is beating their drums now. Any tainted politition from any party or independents should be barred from any kind of political activity may be the solution for curruption.

    Justice Santhosh Hegde's report has given clean chit to all the Congress politicians. The former CM's SM Krishna, Dahram Singh and Kumara Swamy had direct involvement mining scams.But Yeddurappa was blamed for everything.The illegal mining is going on in Karnataka, Goa, Andhra for the past 30 years. Things have not changed even after Congress came to power.
    Only Reddy is kept in jail to curtail his political power. Same thing with Jagan.

    Just to offset the bad news of further arrests of BJP MLAs, the conniving mind of BJP hatched this plan to divert attention.

    Lokayukta report is available to them. As Sidduji said today Lad's name is not appearing anywhere in that report.
    Since BJP is maintaining Lad is guilty, let them publish the page\s of the Lokayukta Report where his name appears as guilty. Why they are not doing that and instead making this YAKSHAGANA...

    They look like pack of ... BJP Ministers in the photograph (EX-M).

    There were cases booked against some of them. Wonder what happened to those cases?

    Iron ore export should be banned permanently. India's present population is 15% of world population. B.J.P. OR Congress same they want to export the natural resources, So our next generation have to live without resources. After some decades we have to import everything to feed the needs of our population. So Indian Rupees may cross 125 per US dollar.

    Satish Sail was arrested for simple reason: He was not given ticket by congress and he contested independently to win in Karwar. This has irked congress.

    If by any chance, ANIL LAD had quit congress, he would have been in CBI net by now.

    Both Santhosh and Anil Lad are involved in illegal mining scam. Now a days both are seen mud slinging on each other. The biggest question here is will congi rajyapala intervene as he used to do when BJP was in power???

    Can one Individual decide and say who is corrupt. BJP should believe in Lokayutkta than an Individual. We must appreciate the efforts of Mr. Heremat who is exposing all corrupt deeds of our politicians. But BJP should not go such a low level instead it should take legal route.
