Bangalore: Techie murders wife, jumps off 13th floor after two failed suicide bids

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Sep 21: A techie allegedly stabbed his wife to death over a property dispute and then committed suicide by jumping off the 13th floor of the building they were staying in. The incident occurred on Friday September 20 night in J P Nagar.

Roopa (33), was allegedly murdered by her husband Madhusudan (36). Both were working for a software firm, it is learnt.

Married 6 years ago, the couple lived at Shobha Apartments along with their 5-yr-old daughter Surabhi. Police said that the couple had left their child in her grandmother's house in the same locality. A quarrel had erupted between them, which led to the murder and subsequent suicide.

The security guard of the flat had seen the couple entering the apartment and everything seemed normal. However, a quarrel erupted between them at around 9.45 pm, resulting in Madhusudan stabbing his wife to death in a fit of rage. When he realized what he had done, he panicked and tried to end his life trying to hang himself, but the rope cut and his suicide bid failed.

He then poured kerosene and tried to set himself ablaze, but again failed as he was unable to find a match stick. Finally, he jumped off from the 13th floor of the building and died.

The incident came to light when the security guard heard a crashing sound and rushed to the spot.

J P Nagar police were informed and south division DCP H S Revanna and other higher officials visited the spot and carried out investigations.

This is really sad to know that people love money more than their loved ones. They are so controlled with the greediness that they do not have much to think about their life, relations and resposbilities. Murder and suicide is no solution to any dispute. At the end, they actually have lost 3 precious lives.

I belong to same firm where roopa used to work. She was such a cool headed , nice and claim lady . I don't what will happen to her daughter , which she used to talk a lot . Fellow HR is now gossiping that her husband was a unsuccessful person when it comes to jelling up and he used to be jealous of her , as she being a joyful person had so many friends . Really shocked

Most techies (nerds) are not grounded in the realities of life. They earn a good salary and then think, that is the 'be all and end all'. But many of them have suppressed rage underneath maybe because of job stress, career roadblock, politics at the work place, wife/husband interested in someone else etc. All of this will make the techie a 'ticking time bomb' ready to explode anytime, once his/her short fuse is lit...In this case, this techie stabbed his wife for some property issues. Nobody in their right mind will stab their wife/husband however bad the spouse is...At least, let them have peace in their next lives..

Sadly the present situation in this world shows a decay of morals.

    No one is thinking of>.

Naked we have come and naked we will go.
Money will buy pleasure but will not give us happiness.
There is enough in this world for everyone's need, but not enough for everyone's greed.

Surely the world will end sooner than later.

Very sad indeed! Condolences to the respective families. What an extreme action in a fit of rage and spur of the moment - two precious and promising young lives lost forever, leaving behind a great responsibility to look after the little child by the grand parents.

Girls who marry techies nowadays are taking a big risk because these techies have too much money in too short a time and hence are restless and greedy souls and are not grounded or mature enough to shoulder the responsibilities of life and family. Olden days people used to have less money and would struggle to earn even that. so they knew the value of money and were contented people unlike the techies of today.

What you have said is very correct.
While I travel in the U.S., met many techs, always talking with somebody like waiting for an earthquake, totally in a hurry and stress with a heavy dose arrogance as if they are holding the whole earth on their heads. Only a very few I have found as if ordinary sensible people.

Very tragic and unfortunate incident, may their souls RIP!!

Unlike days gone by when IT industry was not in existence even professional graduates had to struggle for years in workshops/sites under tough conditions to get decent postings and salaries, and most of them had the emotional support of families due to joint family system!! Nowadays, after the establishment of IT sector the salaries have increased manifold and within years young techies are able to earn in lacs, buy houses, SUVs, etc. of their own and have very very high aspirations to garner more and more of wealth and property blinded with the glare of wealth!! In the race to that they do not make out that they are losing on health, relationships, and even forget the values of marital bliss leading to all sorts of problems sometimes even financial due to over leveraging in investments to earn more money!! With the do or die situation they work in, intense competition, overwork, no time for healthy recreation/communication lowest level of tolerance they get frustrated/angered with even small issues and develop suicidal ideations the results of which can be seen in such tragic incidents happening almost everyday somewhere or the other!!

Simple life with basic needs met was anytime better than the present one with more and more wants, sky high aspirations, and lack of tolerance!! After is all this fame and wealth worth it for all it is!!

Olden times of step by step growth earned with hard work and patience over a period of years was really in,hindsight, the best with very little wants but only needs!!

Sir, the world economic cart is rolling backward now and we will be forced to see the old times of having more time with friends and families, less possession of tangible goods. In a recent report, the U.S. wealth has gone back to the 1985 asset status.

Peaceful death delights every one as one day every one must go from this world. Death like this terrifies all of us because of consequences.

Marriage was in olden days considered as most blessing from Almighty because our ancestors (grand parents and their grand parents)they were not educated, took every advice received from their elders as commandment. At that time joint family concept was a true living paradise.

Today we are educated, understand everything and even question our ancestors wisdom as we feel that we are most qualified and educated people.

Still we come across and hear tragedy like this happen almost every day.

Let us ponder ourselves how to avoid such situations in our life and tell our neibhours and our children that we have only one life and it was gifted by the ALMIGHTY and we have no right to either take others life nor take our own.

I wish everyone learns to control thier anger, EGO, and the endless wish lists. Rest in peace is what we can offer, but for sure that may not happen as thier child's tears / loss that she will going through for the rest of her life would not let that happen....
