Udupi, Sep 22: A man accused of brutally beating up school children was arrested by Padubidri police on Saturday September 21.

The arrested has been identified as Firoz (38), residing at Padubidri Kanchinadka. He has been produced in the court.

Sources said that Firoz is a rowdy sheeter. Another source said that he is also a gram panchayat member.

The victims have been identified as Nauman (7) and Sihaan (6), children of Abbedi residents Nawaz and Khairunnisa. They are students of class 1 and 2 at Padubidri Urdu school.

It is learnt that on September 18, at around 8. 30 am, Firoz allegedly beat up the children who were waiting for the school vehicle. He thrashed them with wire, causing injuries on their backs, faces, necks, it is learnt. It is also said that he later left the children to school in the same auto rickshaw and returned.

After the children reached their classroom, they narrated the incident to their classmates. The students brought this to the notice of the school headmaster.  The headmaster informed the parents of the children, who then approached the panchayat. Some of the locals who were angered at the incident even clicked pictures of the wounds sustained by the children and shared them on Whatsapp to garner public support against the accused.

On hearing about the incident, Udupi district child welfare committee took up the matter. Under the leadership of Yellappa, member of child protection unit of women and child welfare committee visited the Padubidiri police station and the school and also submitted full details about the incident to the child welfare committee.

Following the incident, headmaster of the school Syed Shafi filed a complaint against the accused in Padubidri police station, based on which Firoz was arrested by Padubidri inspector Azmat Ali. He has been remanded in judicial custody for 15 days.

Any little mischief from the little ones that too aged 6 and 7 years does not warrant such brutal treatment. Anyway who is he punish the kids for their mischief. He could have brought it to the notice of the school authorities or parents. He is 5 to 6 times their age. On this basis he too should be thrashed with the same wire or rods what he used, to beat the children, 5 to 6 times so that he does not dare do this again to any child.

What is going on? Women-children-old aged people and even healthy people can't survive in India! How in the world GOD created these two legged devils in human outfit to torture the innocent? This brute animal must be whipped in the public and the public belongs to all political parties. I hate to hurt anybody, even killing chicken is very scary for me but I would like to get the opportunity to whip him with metal chain for causing the serious pain to the innocent children.

I dont say what he did is right.Of course small children in this Age just do some nonsense. Most probably the children wanted to get into the Riksha and naturally all at once.Thats what I think one of the reason why he got total frustrated and started beating what he got in the Hand.otherreason I cant think.Still what he did is not correct.with some Patience and like a adult Person children could have behaved better.Or any grudge between the Family?hope in future he will behave like a cultured man.

I just wonder why did this guy beat the innocent kids! Looks like he is mentally sick. He should have thrashed by the public before handing over him to the police so that he wouldn't dare to repeat it again.

He is the rowdy sheeter and politician. His deserved place is Jail. Police should make sure that once he comes out from the Jail , may attack again the family of the kids and the School Head Master. Can't trust these criminal animals.

You are rite he should not show his anger with kids, but am still thinking why he hit the kids!!
Either he was angry with kids parents or either kids would have teased him by some other name (ulta pudar)!! because lot of kids do such stupid things which results to get beatings..

He should be punished for this heinous act. Not by public only through the legal action. i.e. through the law of the land.
