Man held for making hoax bomb call at police lines

Gurgaon, Sep 22 (IANS): A 44-year-old farmer was arrested here for making a hoax bomb call threatening an explosion at the police lines complex Aug 9, police said Sunday.

Deewan Singh of village Ghoshgarh was arrested Saturday. He was presented in court that sent him to one-day police remand.

"Deewan wanted one Sandeep from Bhohrakalan village to be arrested for eloping with his married daughter a few months ago," investigation officer Shri Bhagwan told IANS.

"His daughter was married to a person in the Sultanpuri area of Delhi but eloped with Sandeep from her in-laws' house. A case regarding his missing daughter was registered at the Sultanpuri police station," the officer added.

Accused Deewan managed to buy a mobile on Sandeep's ID and called the Gurgaon police control room, saying that bombs were planted in the police lines.

"He thought police would follow Sandeep and arrest him and his daughter would return home," Bhagwan added.

The eloped couple is yet to be traced.
