Mangalore, Sep 27: In connection to the theft of 4 jersey cows from Kajila farm under Ganjimutt gram panchayat limits on May 26, 2012, Panambur and Bajpe police under the guidance of ACP Ravikumar have arrested three accused and seized the Scorpio car used in the theft.

The accused are identified as Abdul Kabir (26), Kabir (28) and O K Wahab (28). They were arrested near Kulur on Thursday September 26.

On May 26, 2012 Sanath Kumar Shetty of SKS builders had filed a complaint with Bajpe police that four jersey cows worth Rs 1 lac were stolen from his farm.

The stolen cattle was sold by Wahab in Kasaba Bengre market, it is learnt. There are three more persons involved in the theft who will be arrested in coming days, said police sources.

The accused were produced in the court and remanded in judicial custody.

The three have been stealing cattle from the past 4 years. They were involved in various cattle thefts at Moodbidri, Bajpe, Karkala, Mudigere, Hassan and other places. Cases are booked against them in Panambur, Karkala, Kavoor, Moodbidri and Bajpe police stations.

During interrogation, the arrested revealed that there are around 10 to 15 teams, each comprising 5 to 6 members, operating as cattle thieves in various districts.

When farming was in full swing, cattle breeding was there. Now many have gave up farming hence the cattle population came down. Beef consumers are there in every community of the society. Hence one can not oppose the other beef eating. Food is the matter of personal choice. Due to shortage of cattle supply to the slaughter house cattle theft is bound to take place.

    Dear Mr D'souza,
Whatever it may be theft is theft, our legislators has to make alternative arrangements for adequete beef supply,If our domestic supply is not meeting our demands then let them import from foreign country with proper channel, otherwise present cenario will lead again a better scope to BJP gain power in our twin destrict's.
Points of Gabbu maam are having much weight as usual.

DK Police must concentrate on solving criminal cases rather than wasting their precious time going after cows and its carriers. Beef is consumed by muslims, christians and others and nation wide beef is sold officially. Therefore either ban the beef nation wide or let consumers get the meet in free market. In mangalore town beef is sold in the open market and why step motherly treatment in other areas/districts. Karnataka government must sort out this bloody BEEF MENACE permanently.

The question is what will they do these bloody butchers?

To a max they might give 1yr to 6 mnths of jail.

Again these waste ppl will do the same, siddu will not implement a ban on cow-slaughter.

So these Coward cow-demons get away..and so does the cycle continues..nothing will happen...these things will keep happening..as it is India..a safe place for terrorists, criminals, rapists, thieves, dacoits,Communalists and for goonda Netas.

Until ppl fight for the democracy to make stringent laws..nothing can happen.

Only Politicians, rich ppl & their families get protected in this country along with reservation category for various jobs.

There are no-laws to protect a common-man & woman, what can the animals expect??

These dirty fellows should not be allowed to get bail in the court. Their entire gang should be nabbed and put them behind bars. They have snatched daily bread from hard working, decent earners of the society.
Govt.has to open a purchase outlet, as same as selling outlet, to enable the farmers to sell their aged cows/Bufellows. So that they will earn something by selling their aged and unyielding cows/Bufellows since they are expensive to maintain.

    Dear Mr.Thimmappa, Chitrapu

I take side of justice, and I would have been happy if BJP arrested rogues, attackers, criminals, molesters, rapists, persons running illegal business etc. But all criminals, anti-social elements, immoral police, cow-traffickers, mining lords etc. got official patronage from yeddy.DVS.Jagadish. No criminals were arrested, instead only innocents were put behind bar.

I am sure BJP and other anti-social outfits of sangh parivar like BD,SRS, HJV etc. had received huge kickbacks in this illegal cow slaughter racket. ( Most of these notorious organisations need huge money to run their organisation, the money for same should come from illegal means.) This suspicion arises bcz these rogues were actively operational since two years and had stolen more than 4,000 cows from various places. When BJP was in power, all sorts of illegal activities had taken place. Cattle theft also must be one among such illegal activities. A government change at Vidhana Soudha ensured that real people behind these huge racket are caught. Police must expose double standards of anti-social parties in this case.

Yesterday U.R.Ananthamurthy who belong to higher caste in hindu categorically said that ceturies ago, upper class hindus slaughtered cows n ate meat to appease gods and to celebrate victories. The think-tank of Sangh parivar must also be invovled in this racket. Transparent investigation will bring facts out. Grill these people and expose real patrons of this revenue generating activity.

    No work. More money.

    Who doesnt want it?

I am happy that atleast in Congress Government rule, cattle thieves are arrested without fear n favor. We could not have expected any arrests during BJP rule. Those rogues, criminals n looters who are roaming free under BJP rule, and those business ventures that functioned illegally under BJP rule, ALL MUST BE ARRESTED without bothering about caste, creed, organisation, religions. Siddu is messiah of Justice. And I take the side of Justice.

May be police scared to Jossey' s comments, as Jossey is expert in biased comments & he had many followers to "agree" his comments. But, now a days his support base is depleting and police got the motivation to catch culprits..

Meantime, there is a great difference in Jossey's comemnts before & now a days. All Daiji readers are surprised and some feel the change of government in Karnataka made Jossey government friendly & now he can not recognize government failures.

15 teams of Cattle thieves !
What may be their turnover ?
Atleast each team must be earning not less Rs.50 lakhs per year. Which means all teams together around 7.5 crores per year. If these cows were insured the insurance companies would have gone bankrupt. This is a Billion bracket business.

Yes, that is why the Police as well as Politicians are giving protection to this business. They get crores of rupees hafta from the thieves. So why care for trivial farmers who lost their cows.

Now more people will be tempted to go for this. Any way the employment scope for Indians in Gulf has diminished drastically and the unemployed youths of Karavali area can resort to this highly profitable business.
