Ajman, Sep 28: In continuation of its human endeavor and to bring about health awareness to the people in the region, GMC Hospitals in Ajman, Sharjah and Fujairah organized a Free Mega Health Camp on Friday September 27 from 9 am to 4 pm.
More than 5500 visitors attended the Free Mega Health Camps conducted in all the three GMC Hospitals at Ajman, Sharjah and Fujairah.
The all-important event at GMC Hospital, Ajman was inaugurated and presided by Prof Gita Ashok Raj, Provost of Gulf Medical University, Ajman – U.AE.and attended by Thumbay Moideen, founder president of Thumbay Group, UAE and other important staff members of GMC Hospitals.
A special team of Specialist Doctors, Consultants, Nurses and volunteers conducted free consultations and checkups in Cardiology, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Gynecology, Pediatrics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Dermatology, Family Medicine, Urology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Dental to all the 5500 visitors who attended the Mega Health Camp at the GMC Hospitals. In addition to this, free Blood Pressure Checkup, Blood Sugar Checkup, BMI Checkup was carried out on the visitors to create awareness about diabetes and hypertension which is one of the most worrisome health issue prevalent in this region.
The visitors were also offered free medicines besides the 50% discount on Laboratory and Radiology (X-ray, CT, Ultrasound etc.) investigations. Patients can avail the Follow-up check-ups for free in the next 15 days. As part of the hospital promotion free medicines, hospital brochures, health packages, health magazines were distributed to all the patients and visitors.
“We are organizing this health camp for the second time this year because of the overwhelming response we got during our Free Health Camp held earlier in June this year. We felt many more people could have benefitted from the previous camp,but most of them could not avail the opportunity as they were out of the country for their summer vacation. That is why we decided to do it again at this time when everyone is back”, said Mr. Akbar Moideen, Director of Operations-Healthcare and Retail Division of GMC Hospitals, UAE.
Akbar Moideen added, “As part of the corporate social responsibility of Thumbay Group we would like to help the publicwith atleast one free health camp a year, especially those who do not have easy access to healthcare as it is an expensive commodity in this country. A lot of people across the UAE benefit from these free health camps. As a matter of fact we have been getting a lot of inquiries as far as from Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.”
This human endeavor of GMC Hospitals was well received and appreciated both by the public and the organizers of the event.
