Bangalore: Rahul trashed ordinance to salvage Congress image: BJP

Bangalore, Sep 28 (IANS):
The BJP Saturday dismissed, as "a well orchestrated political stunt to salvage the image of the party", Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's trashing of the ordinance to save convicted lawmakers from disqualification.

Gandhi spoke against the ordinance after it had been condemned by all and President Pranab Mukherjee, to whom it has been sent for approval, questioned the reasons for issuing it, Bharatiya Janata Party's former president M. Venkaiah Naidu told reporters here.

Asked whether the ordinance was sought to be promulgated in a hurry to save former Bihar chief minister and Congress ally Lalu Prasad, he said "undoubtedly".

If ordinance was not issued before Sep 30 and "if there is a judgment negative against him, then he will lose his membership," Naidu said referring to fodder scam case which Lalu Prasad has been fighting.

The Congress also wanted to save its Rajya Sabha members Rasheed Masood, who was convicted recently in a corruption case when he was a central minister in 1990-91.

Naidu said Gandhi's condemnation of the ordinance was also intended to show the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh "who is the real boss".

He said the prime minister's image has reached "lowest ebb" following Gandhi's attack and he should "step down and go for early elections".

Rahul is the part & parcel of entire UPA which is more powerful than any Cabinet Committee. So, stop spreading news that Rahul was not aware of Ordinance till he came to the Press meet of Ajay Makhan . There is a limit to feigning ignorant or innocent. Being Ignorant of very important developments in the country inspite of being in such a powerful & important position, cannot be pardoned. Tomorrow he may get confused who is Chief Minister of Bihar whether it is Nitish or Laalu whom UPA wanted to save from getting debarred from election as per S.C. Verdict.

Jude, I will tell you why Congress keeps winning. Number one, due to the high rate of illiteracy which results in worshipping one particular surname i.e.Gandhi.Secondly certain sections of the society whose voting pattern depends on mainly two points i.e. the party should be the one who looks other way when religious conversions, cow theft and cow slaughter takes place. For them, it doesn't matter if the party they have voted to power keeps sucking the nation’s blood. All other justifications in favour of congress/upa in these columns are just farce.

Don't cry.........We are a democracy, Even if all that you say is far from the truth, I will still say that in the end democracy prevails. The majority who vote for the congress are not convinced of your lies which you guys seem to think become the truth by repeating them over and over again. Instead of crying and lying try to change yourselves, become inclusive, spread your message with love and understanding, concrete policies, abhor hatred and divisiveness and who knows your luck might change. And remember nobody can anoint a Gandhi as Prime Minister as he or she has to contest and fight elections and if through elections they win and come to power, then what is your problem. If you don't like them, then kick them out on the strength of the ballot box.

If you apply the illiteracy logic on congress votes, why not apply the same for the Gujarat and MP electorate?

Mr.Naidu, which state you hail from and from where u managed to enter Rajya Sabha ? Whatever may be the drama behind Rahul Baba's late revolt against ordinance that supports tainted representatives to remain in power, Rahul played a very clever political game just like Advani played Ram Janma Bhoomi Nataka for political gains. I equate Rahuls Nataka with Advanis Nataka of Rama Janma Bhoomi. Despite BJP coming to power, Rama temple still not built, to keep alive Ram temple issue so that BJP can win election decade after decades.

People like Laalu had looted enough wealth to keep entire Bihar running for another 50 years. Laalu is also getting older. This ordinance even if comes into effect will not matter to Lalu. His wife n children will continue to loot.

By the way, if investigating agencies find crucial evidence that will guarantee death penalty for N.Modi, the what BJP had to say about its PM in waiting candidate Modi ?

At least Rahul Gandhi being a Vice President of the Congress party had the guts to speak against the government and the ordinance knowing very well that the opposition will take advantage of it, this is called a truly democratic party where every one is allowed to speak its mind, but what about the bhartiya joker party everybody has to follow the diktats of the chaddis from Nagpur and a senior person like LK advani speaks he is immediately called to Nagpur and silenced by the Chaddis head , warned and ask him to follow what is ordered.Ask any of the Feku party leaders if they have the guts to go against the diktats of Nagpur chaddis and they will see the immediate result

The spoilt educated masses do not form the majority of the electorate. Instead of wondering why the congress keeps winning election after election in spite of its flaws, why don't you take time to introspect as to why the BJP keeps losing election after election. Maybe because the people feel that the congress is the lesser of the two evils. Instead of finding fault with the people who keep electing the government they want, why don't you try to profess changes in the ideology of the BJP and purge all those within who hold fundamentalist and extreme right viewpoints. Maybe once you are able to make these changes and convince people of these changes, you too may start winning elections.

So, when UPA strategists came to know that this will give a huge boost to the Popularity to BJP in next Election, just to control this deep damage to their own party they used Rahul with double intention.
Firstly - to show that Our Saaris are as bright as yours ( Rin Advt), and Second idea is to boost Rahuls image and remove the general impression among the public that he has no independent thinking power.

Mr. Naidu's party (BJP) is inauthentic in calling a spade a spade!!! Look at the Drama's they have created in the non functioning of parliament for last couple of years!!!

Atleast the young scion Mr. Milind Deora who took a "Stand" and stood first and "Opposed the Ordinance Strongly in Public" irrespective of his party's decision to supporting the ordinance.

That's called the "True Leadership Qualities" and I am sure Mr.Milind Deora's "Action" led more "Confidence and Power" to Mr. Rahul Gandhi to call this ordinance as " Complete Nonsense".

Atleast they speak the truth at the end!!!. It's not anyone's business to call it a drama.

The shameless Mr. Arun Jaitley's comments..."The country is waiting to see whether the Prime Minister has any self-respect left!!!...etc.,

What "Self-respect" Mr. Jaitley has got first of all to question Mr. Manmohan Singh in this whole episode?

Mr. Modi is just a good "Orator". That's it... He is not authentic at all in his hate speeches which he has started delivering about UPA's performance card.

Mr. Rahul Gandhi and his party "Can and Will" form the next Government giving a countdown to their arch rival party BJP.

With his "One Decision" the entire opposition is terribly shaken!!!

Mrs. Jayanti Natarajan of the Congress aptly described it on one of the NDTV debates last night when she said, "Rahul Gandhi stole the thunder from the BJP".

I think that is why the BJP are feeling so despondent now. BJP supporters are all in a state of shock with Rahul's correct, strong and bold words and they are trying desperately to run him down by saying "Oh, its all a drama", "what was he doing till now", "Oh, the tone of his voice was not proper", "Oh, he is not following party decorum". I repeat my earlier comment that what matters is the substance of his words and not the timing. He made a statement that is correct, bold and in the interest of the nation. It seems the BJP feel lost and all their attempts to criticize the Congress on this matter seem quite weak.

We may find many intelligent as well non-corrupt young Leaders in Congress Party too but they never allowed to occupying higher position due to various reasons. As I said before only two Congress Leaders like Milind Deora and Diggi Singh opposed the ordinance along with BJP and AAP etc but none of the Congress Leaders dare to question the ordinance. This ordinance was passed mainly to safeguard one of the Rajya Sabha Member Rasheed Masood guilty in a case of corruption and other offences and he is set to lose his seat. Moreover, in Karnataka, Siddu Government ordered CBI Enquiry by mistake to investigate mining business too which will make more damage to Congress Party than BJP or JDS since near about 10 to 15 Ministers and Top Level Leaders are involved in Mining Business like Reddy Brothers

Congress came to know that President Pranab Mukharji is not willing to sign this Ordinance and he is going to raise embarrassing queries on this Ordinance and send it back for re-consideration, which will be a gross insult to UPA Govt. That is why in a hurry as a damage control measure Cong asked Rahul to rush to press meet and mouth those harsh words using unparliamentary words insulting his own govt. In fact Rahul himself was part of the Committee which discussed the ordinance in detail and then approved it and sent it to President. This Cong drama is a gross insult to our democracy because a second line party functionary is undermining the position of the Prime Minister of the Country itself.
