Ahmedabad, Mar 5: In the wake of Congress demand for Narendra Modi's resignation following the revelations of the Justice U C Banerjee's report, the Gujarat chief minister on Saturday broke his silence and dared the UPA government to impose President's rule in the State.

"I am not a person who will get scared," Modi said while addressing a huge gathering of BJP workers at Kankari in presence of BJP president Rajnath Singh.

"Do not try to scare us with Article 356," Modi said while reacting to the resignation demands from the Congress in a fiery speech peppered with personal attacks on Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and Justice U C Banerjee.

Giving a hint about his popularity in the state and the manner the party under his leadership had won the Panchayat and local body elections, Modi said, "The day Article 356 is applied in Gujarat, the people of state will give us 156 seats (in the Assembly)," thus indicating that the people of the state will vote him back to power with a thumping majority.

Modi said, by publishing such a report (which stated that the fire in the Sabarmati Express train was an accident) the UPA government has "wicked laugh" on the relatives of the victims, several of whom children and women, killed in the train carnage of February 27, 2002.
