Mangalore, Sep 30: Newly appointed superintendent of police (SP) of Dakshina Kannada district Shantanu Sinha took charge of his office here on Monday September 30.

He took over as SP from Abhishek Goyal, who has been transferred as SP of Lokayukta, Bangalore.

Speaking to reporters after assuming charge, Shantanu Sinha said, "My main priority is to maintain law and order in the district. I will strive to do justice to my profession.

"I will study the situation in Dakshina Kannada and then decide on the future course of action under the guidance of senior officers," he added.

Sinha is a 2009 batch IPS officer. Before coming to Dakshina Kannada as SP, he served as Lokayuktha SP, DCP in Mysore during Assembly elections, and as sub-division ASP in Chennapatna. Shantanu Sinha, before joining Indian Police Service, had served 4 years in the IT field.  Although his parents belong to Bihar, Shantanu Sinha was born and brought up in Delhi. He completed his education in Delhi University.

Do not worry about language. It is a must for them to learn Kannada when posted in Karnataka and like wise in any state. They speak better Kannada than many locals. The only language they should know is, controlling criminals and moral policing criminals.

As per the Rule , every IPS/IAS officer posted in any state , must learn the Local State Language with in one year from the first posting , official training will be given to all new officers. and this is 4th year for Mr Sinha in Karnataka , and he will be fluent in Kannada .

This is very common in India. Police officers get transferred so often that they do not even know how to work. Being shifted means huge expenses for the tax-payers. Not only do these officers waste the time in getting transferred but also the sub-ordinates(chamcha-giris) also waste alot of time to please their new bosses. See the photos all in yes sir modus. Where is the time for law and order.Names sake once in a while the news print some caught criminals(15%) and the rest(85%) get away with hafta. Jai Hind
