Mangalore: Govt grants in the name of religion unconstitutional - Hindu Vedike

With Inputs from Media Release

Mangalore, Oct 1: The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has condemned the state government's decision to provide a loan of Rs 2 lac each to unemployed minorities to help them buy tourist vehicles and termed it 'unconstitutional'.

T B Jayachandra, Karnataka state minister for law and parliamentary affairs had announced that the state cabinet has decided to extend an amount of Rs Two lac each to unemployed Muslim and Christian youths, in a move aimed at providing them job opportunities. So far, the scheme, was restricted to only unemployed SC/ST youth.

In a media release, the Vedike stated, "As per the verdict of Calcutta high court, it is unconstitutional to extend monetary grant in the name of religion. Congress government has declared that Indian Constitution is secular.  In the circumstances, the very same Congress government is extending subsidies and reservations to Muslims eying vote bank.

"In the past too, the grant given to Muslims in Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal had been cancelled by the high courts there. Congress, which claims to be secular has meted out injustice to youth of other religions by identifying only youth of particular religions for showing their concern.

"The government should remember that only Jews and Parsees belong to minority communities. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti urges the government to cancel the loan to Muslim youth, failing which the committee will launch a nationwide movement against it besides taking legal action.”

Very good move taken by State Cabinet. Such help should be offered irrespective of minorities or religion based. This increases the hatred and sends wrong message to others. Unemployed (non-minorities) are also Indian citizens. Government should try to revise their plan and try to help all who are in need without having any political point of view.

Please help every youth of India to be successful in anyways. Do not mix religion with political tax payer funds distribution rather make every youth benefit of funds with proper care without corruptions. I know BJP used to distribute funds to mutts by Yeddi, Acharya with their helicopter or chartered flight trips to temples, mutts. I strongly request to every able person to help the poor, homeless which automatically help the peoples family to have educations, job, etc. Christians have mastered these jobs in India and continued as of today without any money from govt. every one should fold your slives and start helping in a simple ways to fellow humans and you see the difference around you. every one forget religious corrupt mind and start loving one another. Start helping today and forget the above lacks form govt

It is foolishness to bring such grants on basis of religion. The need of the hour is provide jobs to the jobless who always ready for strikes and protest in front of DC office.
The hindu Vedike should have condemned the Eddy rule where all Mutts were given funds from Tax payers money and what was the contribution of such mutts to the general public?
Did you see any Mutts attract more devotees after upgrading them? Did you see any people change and become good citizens after funding these Mutts. The question is why waste tax payers money on Temples and on communities of particular religions.
Let them fund the schools and hospitals run by minorities because they always proved good for the public interest and always a track record of providing quality education.

shahnawaz kukkikatte, dubai/udupi, I completely agree to your first line. But the first line of second para is full of hypocrisy. Everyone knows that govt doles out grants to temples or mutt from the income of the temples not from the treasury, but still you try to fool us, by fooling yourself.

    Some confusion...
News caption is for providing grant whereas the news says that it is about loan.
Loan is refundable and grant is not.I assume that it is a loan heme similer on the lines prevailng such scheme for SC/STs.
What is wrong in providing loans to unemployed youths from muslim/christian communities.Only thing to be ensured is that the benifit should be extended purely on financial criteria.Similar schemes like PMRY,SEEUY,IRDP,Minority development corpration etc are in vogue in PSU/Private banks.Let there be no intermediaries in the flow of benifit to the actual needies.Let end use of funds lent be ensured.I do not see the scheme is for appeasement like Shinde's latest directives to states.

I fully agree with Mr. shahnawaz kukkikatte, dubai/udupi. But also want to add the following:
The Hindu Jagarana Vedike along with the Bajarangdal have been attacking the minorities time and again. How does The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti they justify their actions!!! Why do they keep silent during that time???

Ismail, you should also know that fault lies with the concerned people also..why christians have moved forward in all asections compared to muslims in INDIA..because they have realised the power of education in the bigining itself..Muslims realised that since last one decade only..when i did my primary school (Krishnapura, chokkabettu)my classmate are 95% muslims, sadly not a single guy from my batch completed SSLC..Girls were excellent but not allowed to continue study..Guys are more interested doing petty business than education..Over the period INDIA developed tremendously where it needed educated people, but where are they..Now, if you say sama palu & sama balu and create short cuts thru quota/subsidy then you are doing injustice to others..

Your irks are in expected lines.....There may be various reasons for Christians Education....In fact, they established state of the art educational institutions across the country(again there are positive reasons)Under the circumstances are lots of educated resources in the so called concerned people!but situations remained same...We can write any reasons here but ground realities are entirely different.

I am having some apprehension about your views. Christian institutions never discriminated against any religion in education, in fact they supported other communities the most.

It should be made available to all unemployed youths of our state irresepective of their religion.

Secondly, where was HJS when Yeddy made grants to temples and mutts in the name of religion? Was it in line with our constitution. Lets not bring any religion here. Let the aid says for the unemployed youths of the state...There are hindu youths too are unemployed and they too need employment. If the aid is made available to all sections of society its appreciated. Equality of citizens rights to be safeguarded

Hindu temples (except 5 temples) fall under Govt control under Endowment Act. The temples have been listed under A,B,C Categories. Govt appoints an utive officer to manage the temples and revenues generated at the temple goes to Govt treasury. Yeddy did not grant money to temple from his own pocket. Its the money generated by temples only.
Not a single mosque or Church is covered under endowment act, but still govt grants money and it comes from Govt treasury.
Lets accept the fact. There is no harm in it.

Can organisations life Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, HJV, SRS,BD, VHP etc. stop recruiting youths in their cadres and make them unemployed n misguided ? Many youths who are indoctrinated are not helping in nation building. Such youths who dont knw what they are doing must read swami vivekanada and get inspired to build life n nation.
