Kundapur: Illegal cattle transport - Bajrang Dal raids farm, 40 cows seized

Silvester D’Souza
Daijiworld Media Network – Kundapur

Kundapur, Oct 2: In yet another case of alleged illegal transportation of cattle, as many as 40 cows were seized by Bajrang Dal activists here on Wednesday October 2 at around 1 am.

The incident took place in a farm behind Kandavara dumping yard. Bajrang Dal activists raided the spot when the cows were being loaded into the truck.

The Bajrang Dal activists, as soon as they received information about the illegal transportation of cattle on Tuesday night, started searching the nearby places. They spotted a truck in a farm belonging to Shankar Poojary near the dumping yard and heards sounds made by the cattle.

Even before the activists could attack, the driver sensed danger and fled from the spot, it is learnt.

Soon, as many as 27 cows were seized by the activists and they started searching for the remaining cows. It is suspected that the cows were brought from north Karnataka and inter-district thieves are involved in their trafficking.

Sources said there were several cows tied in Shankar Poojary’s house and he was into the same business from the past several years. In this regard, Bajrang Dal activists have filed a complaint with Kundapur police.

The police visited the spot and seized the truck and the cows. They also took Shankar Poojary and his wife to the police station for questioning.

To curb the illegal selling of beef, the Govt/City Corporations should issue licences for slaughter houses.
Inspite of this,if some people carry out illegal transport of cows, they should be booked under goonda act.these type of people should not take any advantage of Congress Govt.

Why not beef eaters get together and start an exclusive farm for the purpose only..Why depending on illegally transported cows and fight for the same?..Atleast we can think set of those cows are ill fated and live peacefully. I'm personally against legal cow slaughtering but publicly against illegal cow slaughtering. The beef eating culture is very recent one in India considering Indian cultural heritage. Being in a traditional society like India it is very much essential for all religion people to respect religious feelings of every other person. So atleast please say no to beef sourced from illegal slaughtering and respect the feeling of people who consider cow as a holy animal. You can also even control the consumption of beef. How do you feel when your beloved Dog dies in a road accident.? The same will be felt by owner of the cow when he comes to know his cow is stolen and slaughtered illegally. Please do not bring politics with this.

This drama is to divert the attention of people. The cattle will go to some GOSHALA and some die there without food and water and the rest will be sold on auction. The end result is beef price goes up and the story continues. Moral policing should be punished. It is disgrace that cow fighting is going on in full swing only in Karnataka. Instead the BD must invest their precious time on social activities and work towards poor and down trodden.

When children are given good nourished food at home which contains calcium /protein, they do not need to drink milk. Reserach shows that excess of calcium / protein could damage your Liver / spleen / Pancreas and Kidneys. Drinking a glass of milk was a matter of the "old thought".

So do not waste money on milk / milk products unless you want to see your kids obese structure.

Cows when they don't have any commercial value to the owner they sell it. The people who own them are very small agricultural families largely Hindus and Christians. The income what they get out of it, is used to buy another calf or so. BD should run some cattle sheds for aging cows and buy it from willing owners. That could help the cause they are fighting for. Without such efforts, their actions seem very much political.

I kindly suggest and humbly request all these recently sprouted organizations to help open more cattle slaughter houses in every taluks.

Presently we have only one cow slaughter house in Mangalore for South Kanara District.
    1) Belthangady - No Cow Slaughter House.
    2) Sullia - No Cow Slaughter House.
    3) Bantwal - No Cow Slaughter House.
    4) Puttur - No Cow Slaughter House.

Due to only one Cow Slaughter House in Mangalore heavy to heavy burden on one and transportation of cows and cow meat to and fro to all these taluks increases meat prices.

Therefore, all meat consumers should have a meet to increase meat in the market there by allowing one each slaughter house in each taluk/four taluks.

THEN YOU WILL FIND THE MEAT PRICES WILL FALL DOWN IMMEDIATELY / INSTANTLY.

Wishing you all the best to meat eaters and non-meat eaters.

The issue here is cattle theft and not about beef chilly. About your Dubai and pork, it may be freely available in confined area in packets clearly identified for pork eaters in licensed shops but you wont find pig farm at all and we should respect is that's the rule there. Do not compare a republic nation to any of kingdom, it doesn't make sense at all. You don't urinate on the roadside in Dubai perhaps u are afraid to do it at the same time you want to urinate on the roadside even if you find a toilet nearby in India, that's the difference you guys make.

Indian govt should start issuing passports for cows, so that some govt official can stamp visa on the cow passport whenever the cow strays beyond a certain radius for grazing. If the authorities have not issued any visa for a particular cow, and the cow strays beyond a certain limit, then the cow can be turned into 200 plates of beef sukka...I think this is a very good idea.

A very valid point mentioned by you to publish it local newspaper, other than the people in this forum commenting and making fun out of it.

Only the cow owner truly knows, what goes thru him/her,when they lose it.

Good, all the cows are saved..and hope all the cows and the cute calf find its owners.

But it is possible too to come to the figure of 40 :
Onji, padrad ,padnaji, erva, ervathain, ervathonji, muppa .... somehow Nalpa!!! as bajarangi\sene guys can hardly count!!!
They only know to say "onji chicksty (60) kolle marayere - nannaonji neinty (90) konnale bega!! Tikkada bejara malpode - eth boda ath undu ithe (40 cows!!) Kelav samaya dani bejara malponi bodchi....

This is all fixed drama.. Can you believe the cows were brought all the way from NORTH KARNATAKA to SOUTH KARNATAKA!!! May be Shettar handed them over...

Though robbing cattle is a crime, I doubt how many of these seized animals were really robbed or actually sold by the owners, it will be difficult to prove!!

As the bovine lifting issue is assuming alarming proportions in this part of the world, the time has come to fix each animal with RFID tags so that they can be tracked easily in case of forcible takeaway!!

The main reason for the increase in such cattle lifting activity is the upsurge in demand for beef as due to unprecedented increase in price of fish, chicken, pork, mutton etc. non vegetarians are left with only choice of beef!!

On a lighter note if prices of even beef start shooting up further the next in line of fire will be dogs and cats!!! Jai Hind!!

Am so surprised by the inhumane way BD goondas are loading the cattle into the trucks.

I strongly believe each cow must be sent to all of the BD goonda's homes for further protection!!

Now that the "haftha" business has dried up these goondas have nowhere to go, but to show their love??? for the cows.

Down with all kind of goondagiri and moral policing of the BJP era.

Let the police wake up from their deep slumber and start acting asper the law.

Legal or illegal, I buy and consume beef and it is my right to buy the meat of my choice. I buy from a licensed shop and I am not interested to know how the cattle reached that shop. The authorities should check the licenses or issue a license for those who do not have it. Thus make it possible for the people to buy beef at convenient. I am talking exactly how the Indian constitutions means it.

Now, If Shankar Poojary can deal with cattle business, then what is wrong with if Iqbal, Akbar and Raman deal with cattle trade. How do you prove that they are illegal by seizing them from an open ground?
There are no restrictions on cattle trade and you do not need license for the trade. If you have guts then Raid the illegal slaughter houses and then it is a point.
I know you never raid the slaughter houses you attack the meek and weak people. You not even have a transport to take the cattle to a authorized so called Go-shaala.

The biggest threat to India today are these self styled, regressive Bajrangis who take law into their own hands and disturb peace and harmony. They must be locked up under goonda act.
