Fire dept chief Vasanth Gowda gets CM's gold medal

Beltangady, Oct 2: S Vasanth Gowda, chief of fire service department in Beltangady taluk has been awarded the chief minister’s gold medal for the year 2012-13, in recognition of his selfless, sincere and meritorious service.

He was selected for the award on recommendation from the fire service department.

Gowda received his award from chief minister Siddaramaiah during a function held on September 28.

Vasanth Gowda is the son of the late Dikayya Gowda and Lingamma, residents of Mithabagilu in Beltangady taluk.  He joined fire brigade department in 1988 and has served in Mangalore, Beltangady and Udupi, after his promotion.

During his service spanning 25 years, he has received 27 cash prizes for fire and special calls and one award for meritorious service.
