Bangalore: Iron ore scam - CBI arrests MLA Nagendra

Bangalore: Iron ore scam - CBI arrests MLA Nagendra

Bangalore, Oct 4 (DHNS): Sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday evening arrested G Nagendra, independent MLA from Kudligi in Bellary district, in connection with the case related to missing iron ore from the Belekeri port.

Eagle Traders and Logistics, a company owned by G Nagendra, is accused of illegally exporting 6.05 lakh tonnes of ore from the Belekeri port alone. Sources said CBI is also investigating allegations of the legislator collecting ‘hafta’ from other mine owners on behalf of the then district in-charge minister G Janardhana Reddy.

CBI had served notice at his residence in Bellary in his absence, summoning him for inquiry at the CBI office at Ganganagar in the city. Nagendra turned up at the CBI office on Thursday afternoon as per the notice. A special team of CBI officials led by R Hitendra, DIG, CBI, interrogated him for a couple of hours and arrested him in the evening. Sources say that he is likely to be presented at the house of V Shreeshananda, judge of the CBI special court, in the city on Friday morning as it is a court holiday on Friday.

Nagendra is the third legislator to be arrested by the CBI in the case in recent times. The CBI, which has registered five cases in the Belekeri port scam, had (on September 19) arrested T H Suresh Babu, MLA from Kampli and Satish Sail, MLA from Karwar, the next day. Former minister Anand Singh has given a slip to CBI officials and has flown to Singapore, citing medical treatment. His application for anticipatory bail will come up for hearing at the CBI special court on Saturday.

CBI sources said Nagendra has a 75 per cent stake in Eagle Traders and Logistics. Sources said investigations had shown that a single account of the company at Axis Bank, Bellary, had seen a transaction of a whopping Rs 649 crore in a short span of time between September 2007 and September 2011.

The company does not own a mine and is only a trader of iron ore. CBI investigations have revealed that the company has illegally exported iron ore that was stolen. Sources said CBI had unearthed evidence to show that 55 companies stole iron ore under Eagle Traders and Logistics.

Santhosh, Mangalore: You said its because of BJP. Do you know which party Satish sail was representating before last election of Karnataka? and you said Luckily we had BJP in central - Do you know during whose time the national highways went to next level and broadened? this was not done before and not done after BJP. So do you want to say we don't want development? Do you know how was Gujarath state after earthquake in 2001 and and how it si now? If you just go to Gujarat and check that state you will say we again need BJP and modi as the PM and not Rahul Gandhi (whose original name is raul vinci) or Dumb Manmohan.

It is a very happy news that Nagendra is arrested. They should be arrested under unbailable warrant. Otherwise they will be coming out from jail within no time and continue their illegal business. Still so many people are there in the que.

Rahul baba if had done good thing, why should he learn lesson from Sonia or feal sorry for his words. In fact, he did good thing by not supporting the bill, but meantime got himself stuck between his words & party's stand. Naturally, the Law is applicable to all in the land & indifferent of party. But note that, so far BJP MLA's or MP's are not convicted by honarable Supreme Court like case of Rasheed Masood of Cong., or Laloo of RJD (UPA ally). My question is why is Media biased in highlighting the issue of Conviction & Allegation ?.....

Land acquisition has been a great hurdle for Local or foreign steel giants like Posco, AncelorMittal who were forced to give up projects earlier earmarked for establishing in Karnataka and other states of our country.
But with the Newly passed Land Acquisition Act which is in all respect will come into force latest by April, 2014 there is every scope that these big giants of steel manufacturing along with Indian Companies may rethink establishing factories here in Karnataka.
Prospects are brighter with huge investments and the benefits that goes along with establishing such huge projects.

    Hype vs actual.
    1) 2G - 1.76lakh Crore Hype - Actual corruption 200cr, yet to be assertained.
    2) Coal Gate - 1.86lakh Crore Hype - Actual corruption can not happen as no mining or funds transaction taken place.
    3) CWG - 70,000Cr. Hype - the corruption amount 125cr.
Every one involved in corruption evenif the money is less than hyped, must be punished so severely that people should forget making extra bucks.

But, the contrast is, one mining BJP mla in illegal mining, has 649cr. cash money in his one bank account. Feku's get down to maths with 24digit calculators. There is no regret or remorse nor call for action against corrupt instead try to undermine investigating agency. This proves the nationalistic credentials of Feku supporters.

Leave the judgment of actual figure to Court, & note the allegation & its impact. Some of the figures lie 2G-CWG,etc. was given by CAG & not by any private person. So the figure itself speaks the authenicity.

You bring in courts when it is convenient for you - that is one more contrast my friend. If that is the case, why don't BJP let the parliment to function in the first place, when everything was already monitored by the SC. Just to enlighten you a bit more, courts are simply going to find how much money is exchanged hands and who is the illegal beneficiary. The amount indicated are the amounts scruitinized by the courts.

Do you mean to say with figures lower than allegations, they are innocent ? Allegations actually gives a rough figure, which will be later melted down to some exact figure. The figures whether hype or actual indicates in gross the corruption existence, & the matter is that why always convictions of UPA leaders are not given importance by media ?

THANK GOD BJP WAS IN POWER FOR ONLY FIVE YEARS IN KARNATAKA. IF PUBLIC HAD GIVEN 5 MORE YEARS FOR BJP THEY WOULD HAVE SOLD WHOLE KARNATKA.

"""investigations had shown that a single account of the company at Axis Bank, Bellary, had seen a transaction of a whopping Rs 649 crore in a short span of time between September 2007 and September 2011.""""

GOD ONLY KNOWS HOW MANY PEOPLE MADE HOW MANY CRORES IN BANK ACCOUNT IN BJP RULING.

Our people also developed very narrow minded mentality. when some iron ore manufacturing company comes to our state they will oppose till that project is scraped. even though it creates thousand of employment opportunity.

    below is the best example.

((((((In July, POSCO pulled out of a proposed $5.3 billion steel plant in the southern state of Karnataka, dealing a blow to government efforts to attract foreign investment. The company said it scrapped the project because of inordinate delays stemming from local opposition to land acquisition for the project)))))

but people will allow MLA's and MP's and party workers to make money exporting iron ore.

""""WHAT AN MENTALITY OF PUBLIC SIR GI""""""

because of this type of thinking India is till not developed it is moving to stone age..

someone rightly said """" FOREIGNERS THOUGHT OF INVENTING TRACTOR LOOKING AT THE LARGE PADDY FIELD. BUT INDIANS THOUGHT, THINK, WILL BE THINKING FOREVER DOING POTTY LOOKING AT THE LARGE PADDY FIELD."""

It is a very strange thing that despite Supreme Courts conviction of Congress MP Rasheed Masood, & UPA ally RJD Laloo Prasad Yadav, Congress is still supporting its members, instead of expelling them. Of course, as per present law both will loose their membership & cannot contest for next 6 years... & People like Digi speaks that they can appeal in higher court, & may be proved innocent. Congress tried hectically to pass ordinance to protect its convicted & corrupt members, but failed owing to Amul baby's anger, & caught itself in mist of action to act or not.

On such basis beside being caught in swirl of scams Adarsh-2G-Coalgate-Thorium-Tatra deal-CWG,etc.. how can our Pseudos keep pointing fingers at BJP. Interstingly, the whole media which was making hue & cry on allegations during BJP rule in state, is now mum even when Court Verdict is heard, & hardly reports. Why this biased steps ?....

Everyday we read that MLA/MLCs /cm/mps make so much profit by just trading/dealing with IRON ORE.
when this national/state asset is so vital to mfg core product like steel-alloys ,then why cant the sttae invite all steel industries to set up mills to produce so hihg grade steel in karnataka itself.
This will build the reconomy of the sttae and buil hundreds of sownstream industries sthus boosting economy- generating preciouus jobs -employment- save money in imports -earn money in exports.
Let all these mla/mlcs use their precious time working at grass roots levels work for the people. help educate them - work in health sectors- energy sectors.agriculture etc.
Stop exports and ask TATAS - L&T to build factories to mfg high grade machinery .

Slowly the graded "Chors" are being lined up in the jails.
First ordinary officials, now MLAs, then Ministers (ex and present) and then ex CM's (State Level).

I hope they catch them all, big and small, without granting any kind of bail at all and if they ask for comfortable bed in the prison, let them sleep on the ore which they loved so much...
Next turn will be from Chattisgarh...

They thought money is everything. To make money raped the mother earth. They thought money can hide their crime. To hide money they thought of power. They got power through money. Now money, power anything is not enough to cover their crime. Hope the mother earth will get justice very soon.

Culprit's people's rep tag should be striped off. They should not be awarded for an interim bail either till investigation complete.
