Kundapur, Oct 4: Chaos prevailed in Gangolli on Thursday October 3, a day after a conflict broke out between fishermen of country boats, Persian boats, and deep sea fishing boats in the sea on Wednesday October 2.

It is said that deep sea fishermen were fishing for small fish which posed problems to fishermen of country and Persian boats. It is also alleged that although deep sea fishermen had been warned about it, they did not take the issue seriously and continued to fish for the smaller varieties. When this was questioned by the fishermen in Bhatkal, it led to a fight.

Condemning the incident, fishermen of country and Persian boats held a protest on Thursday.

Gangolli police SI Santosh Kumar and other police officials intervened in the matter and brought the situation under control. A discussion was held and deep sea fishermen were told not to create any problems for country and Persian boats.

Marine life is in danger! Trawler huge boats sweep all the fish in one go in one visit. Fishing is a big business and its vast. There several huge trawaler boat in coastal karnantaka, which sweep the fish much more than expected and dont provide enough time to breed for new fish. Marine life is in real danger, wake up mangaloreans rise up your voice on this. coming decade we shall see the defecit in Marine life and it effects ecology big time. Other thing is we common mangalorean is not able afford rich fish from past 4 to 5 years due to high price and scarcity. Goverment should intervene marine life is a natural resource of India, there must be some regulation like 50% catch must be reserved to the local people because its kind a staple food for coastal people. Goverment do provide subsidy and benifits to fisher busninessmen like disel, ration etc.. and tax them who is having multiple huge trawler boats.

country boats or old conventional boat may or not fitted with small motors and owners are medium class people. Persian boat is actually called Purse Seine in English, named such because along the bottom are a number of rings. A line (referred to as a purse-line) passes through all the rings, and when pulled, draws the rings close to one another, preventing the fish from "sounding", or swimming down to escape the net. Deep sea Boats are big boats containing all modern facility to cash fish with high tech instruments including radar to detect fish and have got freezer compartment for preservation,

    Let me Correct u,

Genji ( not Dhenji)is a Fish for persin and country boat as it lives very close to the shore. Some time one can catch this fish just by walking to the sea till waist level through net.

Marvoi, is normally seen in Sweet water, What we eat marvoi is from river, It also lives in Sea, but normally no wan catches marvoi in sea. However u get Oyster, in other words called as Pacchile...

Country Boat means - Nada Doni in Kannada, VAADA in Tulu, This is made of Wood, then upgraded to Fiber, this is Small boat which can occupy only 3-6 members, n can run with or without machine.. This will be normally parked in the sea shore everywhere near the beach. Small and poor Fishermen catches fish using this boat. The normal cost of this VAADA is around 25- 35,000

Persin Boat - usually costs around 25-40 lacs depends upon what kinda engine u set in, This boat travels upto 100 nautical miles, will be capable of catching big fishes like Anjal, Pomplet etc. Recently these boats are installed with TV Cameras which will tell u exactly where to catch fish. Catching Fish using parsin boat is normally costs a lot, as diesel consumption is high. There is Fixed cost even if they do not put net at all..

Deep Sea Fishing is Higher version of Parsin boat which normally costs from 40-75 lacs even goes upto a Crore depends on the engine. These boats, while going for fishing carry a huge ICE, to store fish. Once they start their journey then normally return once in 7-10 days. So they need to prepare entire food in the sea itself.. They keep catching the fish and store in ICE. They normally goes very far, so often reach SL and PAK border too. In mangalore Deep sea fishing people travel upto to Cochi to Rathnagiri. Maintaining Deep sea boat is very very costly due to Diesel and Food. This can accommodate upto 30-40 people at a time.

    Thank you.
