Udupi: Present MLA inaugurating works started by me - Raghupati Bhat

Udupi, Oct 4: Former BJP MLA of Udupi Raghupati Bhat on Friday October 4 lamented that though several projects were initiated during his tenure, the new Congress MLA has been inaugurating them without giving him any credit or remembering his contribution.
Addressing a press meet here, Bhat said, "Many projects were initiated during my tenure, and work on them was in progress. Meanwhile, the elections came and the works were stopped, and continued later after the Assembly polls. But now the present MLA (Pramod Madhwaraj) has been inaugurating the projects that were started by me, without even remembering my contribution or printing my name in the invitation."
Elaborting further, he said, "During my tenure Rs 30 crore had been sanctioned for urban development authority for various works like Malpe-Padukere bridge, road construction from Syndicate circle to DC office, Ambagilu to Kalsanka, and Malpe Balaram road to Thottam road which still remain incomplete.
"The present MLA is busy in only receiving appeals from people; he should also visit and examine the progress of ongoing work. The amount sanctioned has not reached the contractors, hence the works have come to a halt," he said.
"The work on the construction of cricket stadium at Beedinagudde, Rang Mandir, and Parkala state highway have yet not started," he added.
"This government has not introduced any new programme for Udupi. The present MLA always claims that he will not indulge in corruption. Does he mean to say that district in-charge minister (Vinay Kumar Sorake) and MP Jayaprakash Hedge are involved in corruption?" he said.
"Earlier traditional fishermen used to get subsidy for 400 litres of kerosene but now they get only for 200 litres, but that also is not released fully. The government should increase the subsidy rate immediately," he said, adding that scores of fishermen are facing problems because of this.
