M'lore: Customs dept holds interactive session at SDM College

The customs department, in collaboration with the associations of customs house agents and steamer agents, organized a lecture and an interactive session on Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Programme at SDM College of management auditorium on Friday October 4.
 
The lecture was delivered by Dr K Venkatram Reddy IRS, additional director and director general of inspection, Chennai; followed by an interactive session conducted by D Purushotham IRS the commissioner of customs, Mangalore.
 
In his presidential address, D Purushotham IRS the commissioner of customs said, “CBCE (central board of customs excise) has initiated the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Programme certification which would benefit to achieve standardisation and help acquire benefits as well.”
 
Dr K Venkatram Reddy IRS, additional director and director general of inspection at Chennai said, “Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Programme is a new concept for the customs department. The program started to sort out issues of misuses of channels of imports and exports and to ensure security in global supply chain in the international movement of goods.”
 
“The program benefits, the trade industry by reducing customs excise, simplified customs procedure and reduced examination for exporters. It also helps the logistics service providers, the customs house agents and warehouse operators,” he added.
 
He also said, “Premises security, cargo security, personal security and information technology security should be maintained in order to avail the certification. The validity of the AEO certificate would be for three years and every year it will be reviewed.”
 
Egbert Pereira superintendent of customs (CSP), Edward Coelho president of Customs House Agents Association, Praveen Kumar Bangera, president of Steamer Agents Association and other delegates were present on the occasion.
 
The members of trade industry, Customs House Trade Association, Steamer Agents Association of Mangalore and other officials from the customs department were also a part of this lecture.

    Function was very nice. The concept AEO Programme is new but good to the Mangalore EXPORT-IMPORT TRADE. i had mailed some picture kindly up date . thank you Daiji world media for taking part and giving the news .
