Udupi, Oct 5: The two accused in the alleged sexual assault on a 4-year-old school girl in Manipal were produced in the district and sessions court here on Saturday October 5.

The accused Shubhakumar and Sudheer were remanded in judicial custody till October 19.

A student of LKG studying in Madhavakripa School, Manipal was allegedly assaulted sexually by bus employees, after being lured into a school bus. Though the incident took place on September 16, the matter came to light only two days later and the FIR was lodged on September 21. On September 22, the police arrested Sudheer and and Shubhakumar.

However, sources said that now doubts are emerging in the minds of the locals as to whether the incident took place at all or not. It is said that even before the arrest of the accused, they were taken by the locals to a temple and made to swear in front of the deity. Both Sudheer and Shubhakumar reportedly took oath that they had not committed any such crime. The mother of the girl however has filed a complaint with serious charges againt the two, and investigations are on.

The accused have taken oath of innocense at a temple! If a person's conciense allows him to behave barbarically on a kid, how can he be God fearing? What credibility has his oath in a temple has? I really pity the people who judge a culprit in this manner!

If anybody did the crime and went to temple, masjid and church or any other religious institution to take oath and swear that I am innocent it does not mean that he is innocent unless and until court of law proves the accused guilt or not Quote "Both Sudheer and Shubhakumar reportedly took oath that they had not committed any such crime" Unquote. We should give importance to the court and law only instead of religious institutions.
