Mumbai: V Ga Nayak chosen for Sri Guru Narayan Sahitya Award

Mumbai, Oct 7: Mangalore-based veteran litterateur Vinayaka Ganapati Nayak (V Ga Nayak) has been selected for Sri Guru Narayan Sahitya Award 2013 of Billawar Association, instituted by ‘Akshaya’ monthly bulletin honorary chief editor M B Kukyan.

The Prashasti comprises Rs 25,000 cash, a citation letter and a memento. The jury consisted of Dr G D Joshi and Dr K Raghunat qualified V Ga Nayak for this year’s literary award.

V Ga Nayak bagged the Prashasti that is exclusively meant for distinguished personalities from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts and Mumbai, for his extraordinary contributions in Kannada studies, literature and research.

V Ga Nayak is a noted critic and authentic writer. He has contributed immensely for poetry, and was known for his concern on humanity. Even though, he lived in the remote village of Adyanadka, he has contributed immensely in all spheres of literature despite of financial hardships. He retired as a lecturer working for 36 years with Janata Pre-University College, Adyanadka. He is the editor of ‘Nadige Namaskara’ published by Kantavara Kannada Sangh. He has published over 35 books related to poetry, critics, research and columns and also eight anthologies.

V Ga Nayak has bagged Vardhaman Literary Award, Gundmi Janapad Prashasti, Talent Milad Award, DK district Rajyotsav Award, DK district top teacher Award and Vishveshwarayya Award.

He was the chairman of Uttar Kannada district fifteenth Kannada Sahitya Sammelan, Bantwal taluk ninth Kannada Sahitya Sammelan, DK district sixth Limericks Convention and Bantwal taluk second Limericks Convention, All India twenty-third Kannada Sahitya Sammelan laughter session, seventy-seventh All India Kannad Sahitya Sammelan seminar.

The Award will be conferred on V Ga Nayak during silver jubilee celebrations of ‘Akshaya’ monthly bulletin scheduled to be held in Billava Bhavan on October 20.

Dr Narahalli Balasubramanya, Dr B A Sanadi, Dr Vikram Vishaji, Dr Arjun Golasangi, Dr B Janardhan Bhat, Dr G N Upadhya, Dr Gurulingappa Dabale, Dr Mahalingeshwar, Professor Tukaram Poojary among others will be present on the occasion.
