Mumbai: Charkop Kannadigara Balaga celebrates 14th annual day

Mumbai, Oct 6: Charkop Kannadigara Balaga of Kandivali celebrated its fourteenth annual day at Haryana Bhavan, Charkop, Kandivali (West) here on Sunday October 6 morning. The meeting began with Sharada Puja on the occasion.

Bombay Bunts Association president adv Ratnakar V Shetty presided over the meeting. Dr Suresh S Rao Kateel, former president of Association of Medical Consultants (Mumbai) and managing director of Sanjeevini Hospital, Andheri (East) inaugurated the programme.

Charkop Kannadigara Balaga honorary president and MLA Gopal C Shetty and Kannadiga Patrakartara Sangh Maharashtra president Chandrashekar Palettady were the chief guests of the occasion.

The dignitaries presented Bharati Kodlekar Memorial Award to Kusuma A Ballal, K K Suvarna Award to senior artiste and stage director Devdas P Salian, Adyar Nadiguttu Timmappa Shetty Memorial Award to Dakshina Kannada district’s renowned social worker Tungappa Bangera.

Vedic celebrant Mahesh Bhat Charkop performed various rituals and distributed Prasadams to the devotees.  Vasanti Salian and Vasant Sasihitlu couple was present during Puja celebrations. Free food was offered to the devotees.

Variety of cultural shows was presented by Balaga members and their children on the occasion. Gopal Trasi and Ashanat compered the programme.

Balaga president Bhaskar B Sarapady explained the founding of organization and its contributions to the society. Honorary chief secretary M S Rao in his introductory address said that the co-operation of members and well wishers helped the Balaga to grow as significant social welfare organization.

Charkop Kannadigara Balaga advisor Dr N G Bhat, vice president Manjunath Bannoor, assistant treasurer Sadashiv C Poojary, programme committee treasurer Lata Bangera, women wing president Shanta N Bhat, Veena Sarapady, Padmavati B Shetty, S C Poojary, Krishna Amin, Nina P Shetty, Jayasri Suvarna, Harish Bevar and others were present at the dais.

Tanuja Bhat, Lata Bangera, Puja committee and programme committee secretary Vijay D Poojary introduced the guests. Charkop Kannadigara Balaga founder Jaya C Shetty welcomed the gathering. Joint secretary Raghunath N Shetty compered the programme. Chief treasurer Gowri Paniyady proposed vote of thanks.
