Mangalore, Oct 7: The newly-constructed Shirdi Sai Baba Mandir at Kudroli Shree Gokarnanatheshwara Temple, built by Janardhan Poojary's son, will be inaugurated on Thursday October 10.

Addressing a press meet here on Monday October 7, managing trustee of the Temple Janardhan Poojary said, "The total cost of the temple has been borne by my son Santosh Poojary who is working for an multi-national company. The temple has been built from his hard-earned savings. The Prathisthapana Mahotsava of the temple will be held on Thursday, followed by the official inauguration by lighting the auspicious lamp by the dignitaries."

The Shirdi Sai Baba idol is made of marble and carved by Bharadwaj from Jaipur. The total height of the idol is about 5 ft 7.5 inches.

Speaking the appointment of widow priests at Kudroli Temple, he reiterated that the move aimed at overcoming stereotyped image of widows in society and bringing them to the mainstream and ending discrimination against them.

Stressing that Kudroli Temple follows the teachings of its founder Brahmashree Narayana Guru who preached that all are equal before god, Poojary said the appointment of priests gives widows not only dignity but also the status of mother.

The two widows who took over as priests in the Temple are Lamxi Shanthi (67), resident of Bantwal Mooda and Indira Shanthi(45) of Ballur, Puttur. They have been trained for priesthood by Lokesh Shanthi, a priest who has experience of training more than 50 priests. Two other priests at the Kudroli Temple have also been trained by him, he added.

He also reiterated that even married women or girls of any caste, creed or religion who want to become priests are welcome to take up training at the Temple.

H S Sairam, Raghavendra Kulur, advocate Padmaraj and Harikrishna Bantwal were present.

Congratulations! Sainath ki Jai...let the temple authority maintain simplicity in the devotion to Shridi Sai Baba, as he was a social reformer and a humble human. Do not burden his idol with jewels, as I have seen Narayana Guru Swami is crowned in Kudroli temple. They do not require material pleasures, if we follow their teachings and apply in our lives, that itself is honouring them.

This is a time when we should appreciate the wonderful work done by Santhosh poojary. In these times when politicians for publicity sake inaugurate so many schemes just to be forgotten, here is a man who has started and finished the construction of the temple without any hue and cry. He is a hard working man who is destined to greatness. hope people like him, enter politics for Mangalore's sake.

For your kind information, the real eternal mentor is Shri.Narayana Guru Swami... on whose direction and foot steps, people are moving forward. Urulu seve is a an individual way of showing the devotion, which should not be problem to you... Broaden your view point... sirf namka bollu nahi, soch vichar me bhi bollu hona chahiye...

Some time I genuinely feel, statements from Jairam Ramesh and Narendra Modi have credence and are Eye openers.
It doesn't apply to any particular religion it applies to all religions, that's including mine also!
We have adequate places of worship
    but far less Toilets!

All the famous Temples of DK & Udupi look like ordinary tiled houses when compared to historical temples of interior Karnataka with breath taking beauty and intricate sculptures on very hard granites.

Only Mangalore's Gokarnanatha Temple is an exception and it is really beautiful and it is the only temple that can match interior Karnataka Temples in beauty.

Gokarna Natha Temple Complex is the best Temple complex in entire Tulunadu.

Architecture-wise also this is the second best temple next only to Seneshwara Temple of Baindoor (Kundapur Taluk). Seneshwar temple is equal to Belur and Halebeedu Temples for its beautiful sculptures and only one of its Kind in Tulunadu, but unfortunately there is no much publicity about such a 600 year old Temple in Baindoor.
