Jalandhar, Mar 11: Two NRIs, including a woman, were on Friday declared proclaimed offenders by a district court in connection with a murder case, police said.

The court declared Inderjit Kaur and Sukhjiwan as proclaimed offenders and efforts were on for their extradition in connection with the murder of Kaur's father-in-law Mohan Singh, SSP Ishwar Singh said.

Mohan Singh, an NRI, was found murdered in Phillaur area in August last year and eight persons had been arrested in the case, the SSP said.

He said that investigations revealed the murder had been allegedly committed at the behest of Kaur, who reportedly had illicit relations with Sukhjiwan, the brother of main accused Jasvir Singh.

The deceased had been attacked by unidentified youths with baseball bats while he was returning from Ludhiana in his car, the SSP said.
