Updated: October 8

Mangalore, Oct 8: As per the latest information, the three school girls who had gone missing on Monday October 7 have been traced in Hubli.

The three girls, Varshini of Kavoor, Vishwaroopa of Suratkal and Rakshita of Kodikal, did not return home after school hours and their worried family members had searched for them in vain.

It is said that the girls, on the evening of October 7, had boarded a bus to Hubli. A family in the bus saw the girls and growing suspicious, questioned them.

When the bus reached Hubli, at around 2 am, the girls were taken to police station and one of the girls called home. Police then made arrangements to bring them back home and they are expected to reach here by Tuesday October 8 evening.

It is said that low marks in the school exams had made the girls take this step.

These days parents think that only the children who get high marks will succeed in life. Children are stressed so much, they concentrate only on studies leaving everything like sports, reading magazines/newspapers/novels, interacting with others at home, their neighbours etc. All schools should employ one counscellor for the sake of children who will hear their problems and give some solace. Then only children of today will live happily throughout their life without thinking of running away from home or suicide.

Very hard to believe that 6th stand students can plan things and take such a drastic steps. (ignorents)

They must have been under stress and fear. Thanks God, there were no criminal minded guys on the bus who could have lured this kids.

Parents should accept them with open arms and try to counsel them and make them understand that failure in life sometimes also is a stepping stone for success. I hope they will learn from their mistakes and shall become good children to achieve better future goals in life.

    OMG....!!!
Parents rather than provide the right atmosphere for growth are putting a lot of pressure on kids these days. Marks are needed only to qualify. Beyond that the destiny of a human is not decided by marks, but by the talent that they brought with them (not given by parents). Parents better look deep into the mind of their kids to identify the talent and create conducive atmosphere for the talent to flourish rather than force kids in a rat race where there are no winners.

Independent and individual counselling of each student should be done to understand as to why they took this extreme step.
Need to understand do they realise where they could have ended up?
NMPL central school is quite an esteemed institution hence I feel we should try to analyse the kids mentality today with only motive to help parents to guide their kids better.
    Nodoubt todays kids are extreme!

classic example to evident the extreme steps todays children can take up. It's a lesson to all parents and also others. It's very very sensitive situation now. We can't let the children on their own which will surely make them to reach some worng connections NOR we can be strict to them which will make them to take such extreme steps. tough time for us parents in brining them up in this challenging world.

I expect the parents of the children and the authorities in their school to be lenient towards these children now that they are back safe and sound.
Instead of threatening them for what they have done, they should show love and affection and make them understand the consequences that follow when children do such things.
It is best to have a face to face to talk without making them feel guilty.

Any body saw them going together after school... were they close friends to plan something together... what's the possibility of kidnap... etc etc... simple we can conclude anything here...
Now a days children are exposed to many things which they are not supposed ... so lets wait for police to drive the conclusion... than we throwing guesses and making fun of ( which is not tolerable )....

Let us pray with God for these children to come safely and nothing untoward happened to these girls at least. It is nonsense to talk about mild pressure or high expectation on 6th grade school level. Moreover now a day children are enjoying their school life compare to earlier decade. Absolutely no reason why they have to abscond from their house in this age. Few even said they might have gone to cinema or ice cream parlor. Please try to understand the gravity of issue before we make any super comments

Why the missing cases increasing in Mangalore-Udupi region. This is very serious matter and putting people in worry. For protection of school children, some safety measures has to be taken. Parents must give mobile phone to their school going children, at least parents can be in touch with children till their arrival. Some private people operating school transport should be banned. All school transport should be painted with any unique color all over the district. Schools have to appoint only local residents as drivers for the transport and vehicle tracker must be installed in all the school buses. Now onward police have to take some action about missing cases.
