Bangalore, Oct 8: Asha Dominic, a young and beautiful girl has completed her masters in Science, but her 'profession' is stealing laptops.

Nevertheless, she is not so good at her profession, as she has already been caught three times in the past. Every time she is out on bail, she goes back to stealing laptops, and is currently the 'guest' at RT Nagar police station, for the fourth time!

Her modus operandi is simple. She looks for paying guest (PG) accomodations in Bangalore city, and stays with other PG inmates. After a week's time she flees from the PG taking with her laptops and any other electronic items she can lay her hand on. She presents herself as an educated lady from a good family, so that no one doubts her when giving her PG accomodation.

Recently, her kleptomania for laptops made her take up PG accomodation at an apartment in RT Nagar's HMT layout, where she befriended two girls. But one fine morning she disappeared with their laptops.

On Monday October 7 RT Nagar police arrested Asha and recovered three laptops from her.

We are all not saints. We all suffer from some psychological sickness disorder or the other. Daiji should not publish articles like this without sufficient legal info, which could also be defamatory. It ruins a persons character / name / family etc, for nothing.

I do not know this person Asha, and think this article could be untrue. Only the Court could prove it. Till then do not victimise this young Lady, for nothing.

Let her steel any electronics or Laptops from Police Kin then they will find suitable treatment for Kleptomania too. This is not a decease, but a bad habit only. These kind of people are same like our corrupt Political Leaders once they indulge in any corruption business they will never look back, rather they compete each other to get top ten position in corruption business. People will always talk about “Kaun Bana Karodpathi” rather than asking “Kaise Bana Karodpathi”. By the way this Dominic surname hails from Kerala I believe

we are fit to give negative comments, but when it comes to understanding someone we never think but straight away comment, for our knowledge in human phsyciatry is very low, and this should be a subject in school days where we can cure our companions at the early stage it self, never laugh or feel happy at others fall for it is temporary,if the same happens to us we do not expect others to laugh at us.

Plz dont make fun of these kind of people....POOR GIRL SUFFERING FROM KLEEPTOMANIA.
Kleptomania is the inability to refrain from the urge to steal items for reasons other than personal use or financial gain. First described in 1816, kleptomania is classified in psychiatry as an impulse control disorder.[1] Alternatively, some of the main characteristics of the disorder, which consist of recurring intrusion feelings, an inability to resist the urge to steal, and a release of pressure following the theft, suggest that kleptomania could be an obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorder,[2] although this is disputed.[citation needed]
The disorder is frequently under-diagnosed and is regularly associated with other psychiatric disorders, particularly anxiety and eating disorders, and alcohol and substance abuse. Patients with kleptomania are typically treated with therapies in other areas due to the comorbid grievances rather than issues directly related to kleptomania.

I totally agree with your point of view. Problem in our society is that most of the people either lack knowlegde of such disorders or are ignorant about it.

I have usually seen some people with brain disorders being branded as "MAD" people whereas in fact these people are normal but are unable to control the brain to muscle co-ordination.

Sad we dont even bother to investigate such things.

Hello to all those sympathizers. It is not Kleptomania... She is not stealing out of temptation.. It is very well planned. She takes PG accommodation, befriends with her room-mates and steals their Laptops. Easy money of Rs.30-40 thousand. Remember she has been caught four times.. but let off.. may be because she has been acting innocent. Why didn't she take medical help so far of she is Kleptomaniac? Why she is not stealing it from Showrooms? She knows the soft targets and plans accordingly.

She is now addicted to stealing. As one lie can turn up into hundred lies to cover up the first lie. Similarly stealing things can lead to more stealing, because the stealer thinks it is easy to make money by doing it, but does not understand the consequences of stealing. She will be rejected everywhere when people know her attitude and behavior. She needs counseling, probation period, and she must undergo training in helping the sick and the poor people. She needs to do community service by picking up and collecting trash from highways. This will surely help her to be better in life.

Its time for us to do some self realization and help the society in large! Thanks daiji!

Still she will do the same unless a counselling been arranged. A MSC graduate cannot do this unless and otherwise has a problem which some of the commentators mentioned KLEPTOMANIA. However, my point here is that, if "Ramesh" did cheat 15 women ,ditching them after marriage, did you ever thought it could be of some mental disorder that he had been or when "Shakeer" from kasragod has happened to steal cattle did we ever liked to understand if it was any sort of mania! We got to agree to disagree when it happens to own home!

kleptomania is a disorder. people with this disorder don't really steal for personal or financial gain, they just can't resist the urge to steal things.

doesn't mean this disorder shouldn't be dealt with.
