Homosexuals to be barred from entering Kuwait

Dubai, Oct 8 (IANS) : Kuwait claims it has developed a medical test to detect homosexuals in order to prevent them from entering the country or any of the Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCC), which include Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, the Daily Mail reported.

"The health centres will conduct routine medical check to assess the health of the expatriates when they come into the GCC countries," Al Rai newspaper quoted Yousuf Mindkar, the director of public health at the Kuwaiti health ministry, as saying.

"However, we will take stricter measures that will help us detect gays who will be then barred from entering Kuwait or any of the GCC member states," the official said.

According to the media report, it is illegal to be gay in 78 countries, whereas five countries, namely Iran, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Yemen and Mauritania award the death penalty to gay people.

In Kuwait, a person who is under 21 years of age and is found to be involved in homosexual activities, can receive up to 10 years in prison.

Anyone’s sexual choice is their own taste, whether it is heterosexual or homosexual, it depends by what they get attract more & by what they enjoy more… whatever taste we cultivate, it should not be problematic to others… moreover in sexual things mutual likings and interests are important…I feel that if both are interested (agreed), there is no any sin, it’s better than raping a girl.
They are also a human being, let them live their life. But these punishments are utterly inhuman.

There is no scientific method to identify homosexuality.Survey shows in many cases person can be both heterosexual and homosexual.I remember great singer George Michael was alleged for homosexuality and it was a big contraversy tinted his image during his prime time. But professionally he overcome every odds and his music remains ever green with the hits like "careless whisper" etc. There are plenty homosexual celebrities and this subject itself is contradictory because illegal in one country is legal to others.

There are no Medical tests to determine Homosexuals.
However they can take a psychological test to explore your sexual orientation.

Could we have more details of the tests please.

But why should the test be on expatriates only, and why should only they be kept away? What about local homosexuals? What about Lesbians?

If they are against homosexuals they should be against all homosexuals and hence each and everyone should be tested. The expatriates sent back to their countries and with their oil wealth purchase an Island and put all their local homosexual population over there.

    @ Don and Deepak/Mangalore

I can't agree less with both of you.

GCC countries as well as Kuwait has a sizable population of both gays and lesbians amongst the locals who have more freedom to be the way they want, and it is a known fact.

I think the cure must come from within this country rather than pointing the fingers solely at expats.

This country as well as the entire GCC, including S.Arabia has the tendancy to blame expats for all the evils in the local society, eventhough we are what we are today in Kuwait cos of the explotation of foreign workforce for several decades.

Fear of God is the best cure and not draconian laws.

Let Kuwait come out and prove that they have found out a unique method that the world will accept and put to practice.
