Mangalore, Oct 10: The officials of the Narcotics Drugs Cell (NDC) on Thursday October 10 arrested a drug peddler who was supplying ganja to students and youth at Nehru Avenue Road, Lalbagh here.

The accused has been identified as Manikanta alias Mani (26), a resident of Devi Nagar, Kavoor.

The officials of the NDC, under the CID division, obtained information that a person had been selling drugs to students and youth in areas like Lalbagh, Ballalbagh and surrounding areas.

The NDC tracked down the accused and caught him at Lalbagh in a swift operation while he was waiting for a customer.

The officials seized 650 grams of ganja from Manikanta.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Madoor Nazeer from Manjeshwar supplied ganja to Manikanta. Students and youth were Manikanta's main targets, it is learnt.

Manikanta was handed over to Barke police for further investigation.

CID division DySP K Thilakchandra led the operation.

    What a lovely smile indeed!
He can be a brand ambassador for Colgate tooth paste.

Well done Officials. This could be just the beginning of lead to the bigger players in this menace. Please try and nab all major culprits who are behind this. This will save our students and youth at large from being victimized to this evil called " Drugs " !!
It could be worthwhile that NDC & Police Officials keep a close watch on these activities near all schools and colleges once in a while, in casual clothes, not in uniform. You might be able to un-earth this menace.
Well done and keep it going officials. You could save many homes n help parents realize dreams..!!

well begining by the district administration and present govt, as they took these narcotic desease seriously and handed over its investigstion to some national agency instead of relying on local police. Mangalore had witnessed some worst affect of drugs on student community in the last few years during the B.J.P rule. The .b.j.pians who always used to talk abt nation interest, youth, patriotism but never took even single action to curb the drugs disease in the district, Instead its during their rule bar, pubs were allowed to operate till late night wich is really shamefull for the party like B.J.P who always talked about national interest.I wish and hope to complete eradication of drugs from district.

I may sound stupid..Is there any scientific evidence which proves that Ganja is bad for heath? It is legal to consume the ganja in limited quantities in many countries. Till date there is no proven death by the consumption of ganja..but from cigarette..oh yes..millions..
