Bantwal, Oct 11: In a major theft reported near Panemangalore toll gate here, thieves broke into the house of a bidi businessman here and took away cash, jewellery and a bike, worth several lacs of rupees.

The incident has occurred on the night of Wednesday October 9 at the house of bidi businessman P S Abdul Razak at Nehru nagar near Panemangalore toll gate.

The thieves entered the house by breaking the latch of the back door. They broke open the cupboard in the bedroom where Abdul Razak and his wife were sleeping and took away Rs 19.6 lac in cash and gold ornaments weighing 15 sovereigns, it is learnt.

The robbery came to light only in the morning on October 10 and it is suspected that a chemical might been sprinkled on the family members to make them remain drowsy.

Abdul Razak runs PS Brand bidi business and it is said that he had kept Rs 19.5 lac cash for buying bidi leaves, tobacco and to pay advance salary to the workers.

Abdul Razak had recently bought the house from a Panemangalore mutton stall owner. Though there are several houses in the neighbourhood, nobody was aware of the theft even though the culprits fled with Abdul Razak's bike. Abdul Razak has announced an award of Rs one lac for those who can give credible information about the thieves.

Puttur DySP Mendonca, circle inspector Rajashekar Mistry, DCIB inspector Bashir Ahmed, town sub-inspector Venkatramana Gowda, rural station sub-inspector Nagaraj, constables Pradeep, Ramesh, Udaya Taranath and Sanjeev arrived at the spot and conducted inspection. A canine squad and fingerprint experts were pressed into action.

A case has been registered in Bantwal town police station.

Why people target only the huge villas and bunglows???Inspite of knowing the risk, most of the wealthy rich people wants to build big bunglows and villas knowing the risk and living only the old parents.Mostly the people in gulf build big villas back in south kanara wherein u find only either mother OR both parents living with the help of neigbour who is coming to sleep at night.

Some mutton flesh and grade of bidi is far better and valuable than a few character here. India was, is and will shine and that needs more hard working character like the mutton and bidi business men and we are proud and appreciate them for their hard work. Lets hope he gets what he lost from his hard work.
