Lokayuktha traps surveyor at Beltangady

Beltangady, Oct 11: A surveyor who demanded bribe for preparation of a sketch is trapped by the Lokayuktha here.

The suspect named Eregowda belongs to Hassan and is now staying at Puttur. He had put forth a demand of Rs 25,000 to prepare a land sketch for Purushotham Gowda for land conversion. The application was submitted through Kuttecha Mugera, document writer.  Eregowda had put forth the demand through the document writer.

After bargaining several times, the demand had come down to Rs 2,000. Kuttecha Mugera lodged a complaint in this regard to the Lokayuktha. The Lokayuktha caught the suspect Eregowda with the money on Thursday October 10.

The raid was conducted by Dy S P Vittaldas Shetty and team on instructions by Lokayuktha SP Mohandas Shetty. Inspector Dileep and Manjayya were in the team.

After the news of raid spread, many curious people came to see the incident. They commented that their trust on the Lokayuktha has increased.

    Send him jail at least for two years. So that he will have a fear of law. Otherwise he may bribe lokayuktha and get free.

    Its sound good that lokayuktha trapping govt servants who takes bribes, but there are cases where the suspect are again inducted to the same post in same place after some time.
    Then what is the use of trapping them. whether lokayuktha powers drained?
