Discussion on literary works of poet A T Lobo held

Mangalore, Oct 13: ‘Atail Sahityavalokan’, a special programme on Late A T Lobo’s literature by A T Lobo Foundation, Rakno Weekly and Lewmen Foundation was held at Bishop’s house, Kodialbail, here, on Sunday October 13.

Inaugurating the programme, Fr Maxim Rosario who is also a poet under pen name Major Kuppepadav said, “I was interested in Konkani literature since my young age and similarly like others, legendary poets like Jose Alvares, VJP Saldanha, A T lobo have inspired me.”

“We still have many literary works of A T Lobo which is good thing, but efforts should be made to preserve and pass them on to next generation,” said Fr Rosario.

Lauding organizers for organizing beautiful programme in honor of A T Lobo, he said let such programmes bring more people closer to Konkani literature.

Alice Lobo, president of A T lobo Foundation in her welcome address said the foundation was formed in August 2012 with the aim of throwing light on A T Lobo’s contribution to literature. A T Lobo will remain forever among the people, she said.

‘Hardyar Khuris’ (cross at heart) and ‘Reedh’ (wreath) books of two stories by A T Lobo was released on the occasion.

Celestine Sequeira, secretary of A T Lobo Foundation gave a brief introduction on life of A T Lobo and his literary works.

On the occasion, poets Donald Pereira and Dr Edward Nazareth presented papers on A T Lobo’s literary works.

Fr Dennis Castelino, Wilfred Lobo, Dr William D’Silva among others were present.
