CM Siddaramaiah's philosophy against superstitions

Mysore, Oct 15 (DHNS) : Five months after the elections, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah attended a meet at Biligere village of Varuna constituency, to ‘thank’ party workers and voters for electing him in the elections.

In his address, Siddaramaiah delineated the accomplishments of the State government during his short tenure and philosophised against the practice of superstition.

All irrigation projects which have remained incomplete in Cauvery, Krishna and other river banks in the State will be completed in the next five years, he said.

While parts of the State have suffered rain related damages, some taluks are suffering a drought. Loss of coconut and arecanut plantations and outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) have also been reported in the State, he said. Relief for FMD has already been announced, he added.

“I haven’t dismissed the existence of God entirely. I do go to temples. However, I have not made visits to temples my occupation,” he said taking a jibe chief ministers of the previous government. “My opponents had organised a ‘homa’ for thirty days, praying that I would not win the by-elections. An astrologer during the same time, predicted that I would come third in the constituency. However, I won by 257 votes,” he said, dismissing meaningless rituals and astrology.

Caste system

On the prevalence of caste system in society, he evoked the contributions of sharanas like Basavanna, who wanted to rid the society of caste, creed and superstitions. However, such practices has remained in society. Despite efforts to change the system, society has hung on to such practices, he said.

Due to such superstitions, discriminations have continued in society. Progress can be expedited if such practices are stopped, he said.

On his recent visit to Chamarajanagar, he said that he was advised against visiting the district. “There are no ghosts in Chamarajanagar. The district is similar to any other district in the State,” he said.

“In the last few years, voters are being lured by bribes. In this election too such incidents occurred. However, we were able to suppress it. Despite several speculations about my victory, the victory margin was beyond my expectations,” he added. Though this meet was to be organised as soon as the elections were over, it could not materialise due to various reasons, he added.

Personally I like this guy. Very firm on his beliefs & straightforward. Many may call him athiest, but as CM he is expected to do adminsitration & not wandering to places of worship all the time. To keep politicians like D K Shivakumar under check needs lot of guts. Wish good luck to Siddu & hope he will be remembered for his welfare of the state

Great CM. I like his ideology and philosophy of life. Life should be balanced between spirituality and reality. Being educated there should not be any room for superstitions. Otherwise our education is useless. Keep it up Siddu.

    Dear nagesh nayak,Bangalore
    "NOORU DINAGALU NOORU SULLUGALU"
You are right but this slogan exactly fits you,not to our respected CM. "NOORU DINAGALALLI nagesh nayak HELIDA SULLUGALU"
If you are sincere in commenting, then do some good jobs. Can you start helping poor people in your area? Atleast can you provide onetime mealto a single person per day? Can you donate atleast 10% of your earning to poor people in your area? Can you join politics and atleast serve the people of Kanataka? Can you go to Kashmir and fight with Pakistani militants? Your BJP Sriman Ataljis slogan, "ABHI THO AAR YAA PAAR HOGA" and we lost nearly 2000 young Jawans.Intead of commenting on Congress government, please serve the poor people. Then we will remember you from "Khal Nayak" to "Real Nayak" I hope from now you will start to serve poor people in your area.

Just a question, as you are showering so much praise for this FEKU of Karnataka, who does not act as per his statement.

Why did he carry lemon with him during swearing in ceremony, if he is not superstitious?

Can anybody answer. Giving statement is easier than following.

Dear CM, I appreciate your comments. However you are the most double tonged CM. Why did you carry a single lemon during your swearing in ceremony?

Did you want to prepare Lemon juice to serve Governor? Please stop fooling people by raking such things and focus on Bengaluru and state roads. Most of which are literally not motorable.

CM Siddu is an upright and practical person. It is good that he is not supertitious. He visits temples but never tries to please or pamper swamijis. It is very pleasing to note that superficial religious activity or partisan religious support or vengence is not there. People are breathing easlily.

    HI PSUEDOS,

WHY YOUR CM IS HASITATING TO REMOVE PRAKASH LAAD WHO LOOTED IN BELLARY MINING SINCE 50 YEARS.

YOUR CM HAS NO HASITATION TO DANCE WITH MOTAMMA FROM BANGALORE TO BELLARY DURING BJP RIGIME TO OPPOSE BELLARY MINING.

NOW HIREMUTH, DORAI ARE TELLING THE TRUTH AND YOUR CM IS ADAMANT TO KEEP PRAKASH LAAD.

    WHY SAMANVAYA SAMITHI.

IN YOUR ITALIAN LED CONGRESS INFIGHTING IS AT HIGH BETWEEN OLD CONGI'S AND NEW CONG'S.

SIDDU CAME FROM JANTA PARIVAR AND HE RULES WHICH IS NOT ACCEPTABLE BY PARAMANNA, DKS, SMK , SHAAMNOOR ETC....

SIDDU WILL BE THERE TILL 2014 .

    Good C.M. Siddaramiah!

Our rulers should work hard to eradicate superstitions, hypocrisy and discrimination from society!
Such people are TRUE REFORMERS! For that matter, we should appreciate progress made by CHINA!
No prayers or processions in Street, work places etc. They are restricted only in Temples, Mosques and Churches or their respective places of worship!
No artificial rituals and prayers to show up strength!
What humans can show before God from whom they want favours? It is stupidity!
God doesn't like our show up! but is impressed by our humility and genuine act of charity!
