Kundapur, Oct 16: "For all the activities harming social harmony , concerned officials have been asked to prevent it. Even after  informing police officials to be alert before any incident takes place, few of the associations still take law into their hands for which officials will be made responsible," said Urban development and district in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake.

He addressed the gathering during the Kundapur (Jadkal) level beneficiaries and community based associations convention 2013 organized on account of completing the 30th anniversary by Dakshina Kannada Rural development society, Beltangady at St George church hall on Tuesday October 16.

"It is sad that the social harmony of 99.99 % people is disturbed because of 0.1% miscreants and in this regard, sincere efforts will be made to prevent it," assured minister.

"People who migrated from Kerala to the state are not refugees. Many of them are citizens of the state and in addition to this their contribution in the field of social, education, culture and agricultural sector is vast. The convent school in Delhi was even established in a rural place like Jadkal, which shows their achievements in education sector," he said.

"When I was the MLA in Puttur constituency, there were several families who did not obtain a title deed for 40 years. Hence, efforts were put in by me in this regard and as a result, 22,000 beneficiaries from one lac acre were granted with the title deed. The beneficial fruit was received after continuous efforts," he said.

On the occasion, an appeal was given to the minister to stop selling of illegal liquor on behalf of Jeevan Jyothi taluk okkuta; to run KSRTC bus via Kollur-Mudoor-Siddapur road; repair Mudoor-Udaynagar road; construct an auditorium; set up branch of Karnataka Vikasa Grameena bank; veterinary doctor and a permanent doctor in Mudoor gram; prevent activities hindering social harmony and others.

The programme was presided by DKRDS president, Beltangady diocese Bishop Lawrence Mukkai. Speaking after the inauguration, he said along with harmony in the society, the association is formed with an intention of giving importance to women empowerment and create public awareness.

Minister Sorake and Bishop Lawrence Mukkai were felicitated on behalf of ICYM and other associations.

DKRDS director Fr Jose Aayakudi briefed on the association history.

Prior to the stage programme, a workshop was held for association members by Brahmavar Rudset association professor Karunakar.

Zilla panchayat member Supreetha Deepak Kumar Shetty, taluk panchayat member Raju Poojary, Ramesh Ganiga, Jadkal gram panchayat president Gracy Joseph, Minie Jacob, president of Jeevan Jyothi, Susheela Ramachandra among others were present.

A new law has to be drafted for moral policing. those who are involving in moral policing should be considered as terrorists and make it non bailable offence. these goons should be arrested under UAPA act. then only moral policing could be stopped in Udupi-Mangalore.

If some thing goes wrong then that can be rectified in Gandhigiri manner, not through moral policing. The society has right to object, but not through vandalism and hooliganism.I must say that no structure is strong without a strong foundation, let us start rebuilding the society from FAMILY LEVEL, to add Value to build better society that is problem free so stop moral police society. But in Mangalore it is always the other way around Monkey see Monkey do.

Mischief makers should be arrested as they are the root cause for the unrest, while the foot soldiers are brainless who lack understanding, some officials who are planted by the previous government within departments to sabotage the achievements of the present government. These trouble makers should be sent to the border keep them there till they give up violence.

People who migrated from Kerala to the state are not refugees. But 75 percent of the crimes in twin districts are committed by them. You don't need to praise keralites here. When they don't respect our land, language and culture, we consider them outsiders only.

Good decision by Hon Minister Vinay
Kumar Sorake.Moral policing should be stopped completely in DK and Udupi districts. Those who attack Churches,Masjids,Prayer Halls should be booked under goonda act.
Congress Govt should prove that it is different from previous BJP Govt,Some jobless youths are funded by some communal groups and businessmen. CM and the Home Minister should not allow the moral
    policing in Karnataka.
