Kundapur, Oct 16: “Healthy body and mind are the essentials for youth.  Only then can we have noble thoughts.  Unfortunately the Indian youth are not interested in the meaning of sacrifice and service.  The car procession of Vivekananda will awaken the people in this direction”, said Thyageeshwaranandaji Maharaj, the head of Ramakrishnashrama of Mangalore.

He was speaking giving a message of peace, after welcoming the car festival of Swami Vivekananda held at R V Shetty hall as a part of youth convention.

He said that the statewide car festival is held by Ramakrishnashrama and Ramakrishna Mission, Bangalore and Mangalore to give a message from the life of Swami Vivekananda.

“New India cannot be built by blaming others.  The imagination of revolution is not possible with love of luxuries.  Youth should be made to awaken the spirit of self confidence and hope hidden in them.  They should be introduced to grand heritage and adventure.  Everybody should take the responsibility in this direction.  If the children in our homes are introduced to such examples, the dream of new India will be fulfilled”, he opined.

The car festival had five horses and their ropes were shown to have been held by Vivekananda.  The five horses denote five senses.  It resembles Vivekananda in a meditative posture trying to find out the meaning of himself.

Vivekananda has proclaimed that those that can win and control their five senses can win the world.

Jitakamanandaji Maharaj of Mangalore Ramakrishnashrama inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.  Vakyanandaji Maharaj and Saukhyanandi Maharaj of Bangalore ashram were present.  Various Bhajana groups were felicitated during the programme.  B Annappa Hedge, former MLA and religious head of Mahatobara Sri Mahalingeshwar Temple of Basrur welcomed the gathering. V 2 event organizers Prashanth Shetty Thekkatte conducted the programme.

It will create great outlook in life, if the young generation read about Swami Vivekananda and his great spiritual lessons of life to enrich our lives. It is terribly sad to mention that, this generation has gone to the extreme in their material goals of life and spiritually bankrupt or imbalanced.
