'Mangalore sisters' receive 'Karnataka Chethana' state title

Mangalore, Oct 18: Twin sisters Ananya S Rao and Apoorva S Rao, popularly known as 'Mangalore Sisters', received the 'Karnataka Chethana' state title awarded by 'Jnana Mandaara Cultural and Educational Trust' of Bangalore, on October 13, at a function held at "Kannada Bhavana Nayana Rangamandira", J C Road, Bangalore.

Their father a businessman Sadashiva Rao and mother Manjula Rao reside at Urwa stores, Mangalore. The sisters are currently studying 'Vidvat' in 'Bharathanatyam' under Guru Vidushi Vidyashree Radhakrishna of 'Gaana Nrithya Academy', Mangalore.

Ananya and Apoorva are students at the Ladyhill high school 10 standard. They have been studying this dance form from the past ten years and have also completed the senior grade examination with distinction.

They have recently performed a show which was telecast on Doordarshan 'Chandana', "Naada neerajanam" of Tirupathi, IMA Udupi, etc.

The twin sisters have also been invited by prestigious the 'Karuru Natyaanjali' festival organizers  to perform duets  in 'Bharathanatyam' in December later this year.
