Kundapur: Alva’s Nudisiri to be held from Dec 19 to 22

Kundapur, Oct 21: “In a bid to save and promote the Kannada land, language, culture and to spread the eternal message, Alva’s Virasat, from the past 19 years and Alva’s Nudisiri, from the past 9 years is being organized,” said Dr M Mohan Alva.

"This year Alva’s Nudisiri will be held from December 19 to December 22. Various scholars, specialists will participate in this event to up lift Kannada language, culture and heritage," he said. He was addressing the prelude meeting of Vishwa Alva’s Nudisiri-Virasat, held at Hotel Parijatha here on Sunday October 20.

The program will expect a crowd of over 60,000 people. Nearly 4000 artists, including several folk artists from various parts of the world will take part in this programme. The programme will commence at around 3.30 pm. The inaugural programme will be held between 6 pm to 9 pm. The nine past presidents will also participate in this programme, he said.

Various discussions have been held with the seniors of the Janapada Parishad. Virasat comprises of a number of platforms or stages to showcase the various talents. Among them one stage has been reserved in particular for the youth. This stage is exclusively built for children so that they may be interact and get involved with the main stream Kannada Culture, language and heritage.

Children from various schools throughout the state will be chosen to participate in this programme. The High school children will take part on first day, followed by the PUC students on the second and degree students on the third.

In order to promote and accommodate all kinds of art and cultural programmes like folk, Vachanas, Dasa Sahitya, Yakshagana, classical, ten separate stages will also be constructed.

Facilities like accommodation, food, and parking will be organized for the participants of the program. Cleanliness will be given priority. Four special teams will cook food which will be served at 500 different counters.

A grand procession accompanied by folk teams will also be organized.

"The estimated cost of the programme will be upto Rs 15 to 20 crores. This financial number is a hindrance for the free flow of the proceedings. The organizing committee has already sent a request for financial help to the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. We also hope that the government will provide financial assistance for this people’s programme," he said.

"I do not have enough of government aid not do I have any political links. During the last programme I requested for help from the DC but to no avail. When SM Krishna was the chief minister I pleaded for some aid as the government was funding various other cultural programme. Krishna assured me a sum of Rs 35 lakh but I received only Rs 20 lakh. We require more support," he added.

B Annappa Hegde, administrator of Basrooru Mahalingeshwara Temple, Nudisiri divison president Dr Umesh Puthran were present on the occasion. K Gopal Shetty welcomed. Secretary Subramanya Shetty presented keynote address. Vishwanath Karaba compered.
