Mangalore: Clash between communities erupts near Neermarga, six injured

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Oct 21: Clashes erupted at Mallur near Neermarga here on Monday October 21 after youths belonging to a particular community allegedly tried to steal a bike belonging to a person from another community.

Initial reports stated that a funeral ceremony was being held at the house of Kunjanna at Mallur. Several bikes, belonging to those who came to attend the last rites, were parked outside the house.

Sources said that a few youths came to the spot and tried to steal an Apache bike belonging to one Praveen. They were noticed by the people around and soon arguments erupted.

Later in the evening, the youths, all of the same community, allegedly entered Kunjanna's house and attacked him, his family members and neighbours. Praveen, whose bike they had tried to steal, was also assaulted, said one of the persons who was injured in the incident.

Five people including three women and an elderly man were injured in the incident. They were identified as Latha (21), Kunjanna (55), Charan (24), Sanket (21), Praveen (22) and Umavati (31). They were admitted to Wenlock hospital.

    Dear Waleed Ullal,

Samskaar can be given to kids. Me, you and Praveen are all already grown-up (and also may be spoilt...!!) too much and can not be rectified. GIDAVAAGI BAGGADDHU MARAVAAGI BAGGEETHE?

But the 8 year boy (or kid or child or infant) can be still given good SAMSKAAR so that the future India will not do war with swords (or war with words like we do in this forum)...!

For any incident, there is root cause and contributing causes. Root cause is most dangerous than contributing causes. Hope you got it.

Today I understood that a section of society consider 8 year boy as 8 year infant (bachcha..!!)

When my son was 8 year old, I ensured he does not do any kind of disturbance to any neighbour. This is the way, samsakaar is given to the youngsters. If my son would have fingered anyone's bike (including mine) I can not support him & he deserves suitable punishment.

DO NOT GIVE WRONG SAMSKAAR TO YOUR KIDS. HE WILL BECOME A BIG CRIMINAL JUST BECAUSE OF YOUR MORAL SUPPORT. TODAY'S CRIMINALS ARE NEVER BORN CRIMINAL. THEY GOT SUPPORT (DIRECT OR INDIRECT) ONCE THEY WERE KIDS.

Often, it is envy, which results in hatred, leading to contention and strife. Education is one of the factors that can help alleviate the communal problem, though frequently we find educated people involved in and even leading riots. Restrain your envy and bridle your hatred.

Why Cant those thieves Purchase their own Bike. After all Parmeshwar has told openly that they can take loan from Minority Dev. Corporation which need not be repaid.
Some commentators have justified thieves stating that they may be Recovery Agents of Bike Financiers. Does it mean to say that Bike financiers appoint recovery agents from only one community and and ask them to forcibly take away bikes of another community exactly during sad funeral ceremony and then provoke communal violence ?

Dear Fernandes, very good question asked by you. Absolutely no change except our style of commenting in this forum. It’s same like a medical revolution by finding out the way to cure major disease yet we don’t have medicine for simple cold symptoms, treat it with medicine takes one week to cure if not 7 days to cure. Yes we can control the cold in our body provided we take lots of precaution. So, communal tensions too have same definition. We can control the situation but who is interested to do so!!! Frankly speaking no Political Party would like to control the situation because we know very well, why?

    Right Mr. R. Fernandes,
That's why law of the land should have upper hand over cast or communities!
Then wrong doers will fear law!
Whoever is wrong, whether from minority or majority should be punished!
Sadly in our region, some people, including law enforcers thoughts are corrupted have its impact on society.
It might take some time to change for better!
After great storm there will be calm!

As soon as victims’ names are known to all, our commentators’ style of commenting also changed in certain extent that they don’t believe in this story of attack. Look at the people who take treatment at Hospital. Whatever may be the reason, you mean to say attack is justified? Had it been vice versa and victims’ are from different community, whole DK and Udupi District filled with road protest and few MLAs’ and MPs’ along with their regional Leaders would have joined the rally to condemn the attack. Be bold enough to condemn the attack against humans without waiting for another side story

Agree to some extent.Attack on innocents/elders/children are must be condemned n culprits should be booked under goonda act.

But as per report, the interesting part is,for stealing of one bike how many guys needed???do you think one person can't do it without anyone's notice??

It must be some personal grudge which is occured in wrong place n time.

Anyway poilce should arrest those attackers n justice should be given to victims n hope truth will be out soon.

Its nothing but one sided story, reality must be something else. Can't imagine some youths coming to the house where there is someone's last rites takes place n trying to steal the bike!!!

Lets wait n see the other side of the story but whatever reason, the attack on the house members is highly condemnable n punishable.

Election is nearing so this hyper!
Division on the basis of community!
    NOT on the basis CHARACTER?
Our LEADERS and HEADS be of communities or politics should have been working for betterment of human society not for division or rift!
Hope some day before it is too late, people will realize WHO HAD MISLED THEM!

Indians are only fit to fight between communities. Everywhere in India, this is the problem...communal-minded, mob psychology.
And then, we'd like to beleive that India will become a world superpower one day..hahaha. With 3rd class communal mentality, we like to fantasize about 1st class lifestyles of world class roads, uninterrupted electricity, excellent infrastructure, and everyone being law abiding citizens....dream on, brothers...dream on!
India will never improve in its collective psyche...not for 50 years...or not for hundred years...actually, we will listen only to a 'rama sena' like organization to make us a nation of obedient monkeys...because we do not listen to police, neither do we listen to our own conscience..but we willingly listen to a communal minded politician /local thug...hehehe
