Rohitashv praises SAB for shifting focus to common man

Mumbai, Oct 22 (IANS): TV actor Rohitashv Gour, seen as Mukundi in the second season of SAB TV's show "Lapataganj - Ek Baar Phir!", praises the channel for being consistent and focusing on the common man.

"The best thing about SAB TV is that it's consistent in one thing and that is comedy. It's a comedy channel, so it is making comedy only," Rohitashv said here Monday on the set of 'Lapataganj - Ek Baar Phir!"

"Secondly, it has changed its comedy style a lot. Earlier, the shows focussed on high-class families, but now it has shifted its focus to common man's life," he added.

Various shows on SAB TV like "Jeannie Aur Juju", "Chidiya Ghar", "Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah" and "F.I.R." are quite popular among the viewers and the credit goes to the strong and appealing content.

"The channel is now coming up with more and more literary work-based shows. Like our show 'Lapataganj'. Initially, it was based on Sharad Joshi's stories, but later it changed."

If "Lapataganj" was set in a hypothetical village where basic amenities are scarce, but emotionally the residents were contented, "Lapataganj Ek Baar Phir!" shows people have got water, electricity, mobile phones and ATM facilities, but they continue to struggle as nothing works properly.

"Now, the whole scenario has changed. It's not a drawing room comedy," he added.
