Hassan: Minister U T Khadar arrives three hours late; MLAs fume

Hassan, Oct 23 (DHNS): Health Minister U T Khadar’s delay of more than three hours to attend a review meeting, left the MLAs fuming in Hassan, on Tuesday.

They also boycotted the programme and walked out of the meeting as soon as the Minister arrived at 1.30 pm, for a meeting that was scheduled to begin at 10 am.

Minister Khadar had to attend a progress review meeting of various departments at ZP auditorium at 10 am on Tuesday. The programme was fixed a week ago and according to the itinerary, Khadar was to arrive at Hassan by Monday night.

But, the Minister left Bangalore only on Tuesday morning and had gone on a surprise visit to a government hospital in Channarayapatna enroute and held a meeting with the doctors. Later, he also visited a health camp organised by a private organisation and spent more than 45 minutes there.

As the meeting was scheduled to be held in the morning, health officers from various taluks, doctors and other officials had assembled at the ZP office by 9 am.

Apart from them, MLAs H K Kumaraswamy, A Manju, Y N Rudregowda and MLC Patel Shivaram, had also arrived on the spot to meet the Minister prior to the meeting. Media persons too were waiting from morning at the travellers bungalow for the minister.

The Minister who arrived a good three hours late, instead of attending a review meeting at ZP office, went directly to the party office and held a meeting with the party workers. From there, he went to attend an anniversary programme held at a private hotel.

Irked by the delay, MLA H K Kumaraswamy and Patel Shivaram flayed Khadar for insulting them by attending the private programme and neglecting the official meeting. “We are boycotting the meeting, condemning his attitude,” they said.

But by the time the duo came down from the third floor, where the meeting was organised, the Minister made his entry.

When media persons stopped him at the entrance and questioned him about his delay, the Minister assured that such instances would not recur.

Kumaraswamy and Patel Shivaram who followed him inside, condemned the Minister’s attitude, handed over the memorandum and left. Congress MLA Y N Rudreshgowda and A Manju were present.

    @Jacob Mendonca, Abudhabi.

Indians whether ministers, locals or even NRIs in the gulf region are known for lack of respect of punctuality.

I have attended many western functions for many decades, and i never find them delaying the functions and meetings for the sake of some sill chief of guest or that sort.

But whenever I attend Indian functions, am even forced to leave cause you never know if their functions will ever take off.

I noticed the same trend when I attended Congress party meetingds during election season in India too.

It's surprising that Mr.Khader, who expects punctuality in the health ministry himself sets a poor example by coming (very) late.

Dear Ayubb, please do not jump to the conclusion by branding Sri U.T.Khader as lacking in punctuality.Pl also understand that such situations have hardly occured earlier. He is one of the best peoples representative/minister in Karnataka govt presently and discharching his duties very efficiently that too with out any fane fare compared to others/earlier minsiters.Hope he will understand the issue now for future guidence.Today is the time that peoples reprsentative are criticised every thing which may be true too.We have seen the functioning of the MLs/Minsters of DKK in the previous govt.Comparing to them Mr.Khader is 100 times better. So let us look forward for better things from him for the people.

    U. T Khader is not deserved for the post of Health Miniter of this this state. By luck and to attaract muslim cominity vote bank to congress he was awarded this position. i am sure as a state Health Minister he never visited all the districts of the state. He is roaming over Mangalore only to make his seat strong for next election. This is stupidity of Congress ruling.

Before they fume let those MLA'S see their own back.If they make public wait then its ok but if one minister made them wait they create the problem that too from the same party.

Most of time in tight or busy schedule its hard to be on time and somebody said he was enjoying ride in A/C car.For their information he has more luxurious cars than those of government given but the thing is car's don't fly they to travel by roads so delays are normal.

It is not new that Ministers always turn up late for meetings, but I thought Mr. Khader was different anyways.
I remember CM was to visit Bishop's house one Sunday few weeks ago, we were informed it was at 3:30 pm & he arrived at 7:30 pm..!! Can you imagine so many people, priests, nuns, religious, lay people, so much of Police force waiting, waiting and waiting for 4 long hours. Waste of precious time of so many people.
It is high time that all Ministers keep up their time when they give a commitment to some one. Time is money & also we should learn to respect our time and as well as others time. For us this wasted time is so regretful and we know we will not get it back. But for most Politicians time is not an issue, they do not value general people's time. It is sad.
Hope Mr. Khader will be different from others and will learn to respect time and commitment.

All should understand that Mr. Khader is the only minister in this govt who is trying to give justice to his ministry. Not only performing his duties, but also he is taking up his responsibilities as a representative of his constituency. He is one person arriving immediately to the spot of any communal clashes and ensures that it doesnt end up in a riot. the most responsible MLA ever in congress.

Your are right Mr. Deepak.. If he attend the official meeting who will vote him...???? If he attending the private programs he can make strong his and his party vote bank. The party is main than the official meeting as the party pays him the salary not we the tax payers... Mr. Deepak don't support the person who did the mistake. Its Mr. Ministers duty to attend the meeting on time. Because of him so many officials could not do their duty as they were waiting for him... there is no problem for the official or to the MLA's, but the problem for the common man who wants the officials for his work... Do you know how many people are waiting for the officials who were waiting for this irresponsible minister? All should condemn this incident, not only this any minister or officials who comes late for the official meetings after they are fixed the programs.

Maadidunno Maaraya..... THese politicians donot have any time sense , they say meeting is at 10.00 AM and come at 2.00 PM. in AC cars donot have slight concern to apologise for the delay and give big big speeches, Now when the same thing happens to them, they boycott .. Atleast now they will realise how it will feel when it comes to the people.

Let this be a lesson to all you politicos.... Or else even the common man will do the same thing for you... then not even a germ will be there for your meeting s rallies.
