Mangalore, Oct 23: Three couples, Ravi and Vinutha from Niddodi Parish, John Peter and Veena from Pakshikere Parish, Alwyn and Regina from Kirem Parish and were married at the 10th year community wedding celebration held here in St Jude Church and Shrine Pakshikere.
The Parish Council of the Church with the support of St Vincent D Paul Society of Parish and with the help of genours donors and well wishers of the Parish and Shrine arranged this memorable wedding celebration.
Fr Basil Vas, former Parish Priest of the Shrine and Parish Priest of Alangar Church concelebrated the Mass.
A stage and traditional function was held after the mass. Fr Andrew Leo Dsouza, welcomed the guest and gathering.
He said "God has poured his blessing through St Jude on this shrine and with the help of the parishioners and devotees of St Jude this year we are celebrating the 10 th Community wedding. While congratulating the new copules he thanked all who have co-perated to make this ocassion a memorable one.
In his presidential speech Fr Basil Vas adviced the new couple to built a happier, healthier and prayerful family. He said "in these modern days our houses are become big and our families are becoming smaller. He adviced the new couples to understand each other, and respect each other, to be honest to each other.
Vincent D souza, Parish council member raised the toast and briefly introduced the couples.
Dolphy Miranda, vice president of the Parish welcomed the guest by offering traditional Panpod. Fr Jesudas D'Costa , assistant parish priest, present on the dias conducted the traditional' Vopsundivnchem' proagramme.
The programme ended with a family meal. Around 1000 people partricipated in the wedding celebrations.
