Mangalore, Oct 24: A rally organized by Campus Front of India (CFI) demanding CBI probe into the rape and murder of Sowjanya turned chaotic after protestors tried to gatecrash into the DC's office here on Thursday October 24. The police intervened and detained them.

The members of CFI took out a rally from University College, Hampankatta to DC's office, where they tried to barge in. However, they were stopped by the Pandeshwar police, gathered into vehicles and taken away to the police station.

During the protest, the CFI members said that even after a year since the rape and murder of Sowjanya near Dharmasthala, her parents have not got justice. "The police arrested a mentally ill person, but Sowjanya's parents have been repeatedly telling that he is not the culprit," they pointed out.

"A few people belonging to the Dharmasthala family are involved in the case, but no action has been taken against them. In fact, in a programme organized in Dharmasthala in support of the family, a few elected leaders too were present," they said.

"The case was handed over to CID after public pressure, still has been no progress," they lamented.

"The police are trying to hush up witnesses and destroying evidence in the case. Hence we demand a CBI probe," they added.

Mohammed Iqbal, CFI state president, Mohammed Thufail, state committee member, Mohammed Tafseer, state secretary, Sanaulla, district president, along with around 150 members were present.

It is better for the Government to look into the case earliest, before things go out of hand as more and more groups are taking the opportunity as god-sent to make themselves known by taking part in the protests.
After all justice should be given to the family of Sowjanya, who have vehemently protested against the arrest of a mentally unstable handily available person as the culprit. They have pointed a finger and people are asking why police are not interrogating those.
    Not for name sake interrogation.
Many TV Channels discussion on this case say the police have not recorded various things which are crucial for investigation and later for the case in court. They feel it is all done on purpose to make the case null and void in the event some other than deranged person is charged of the crime.

If that is the case even the deranged person they have arrested cannot be made as the accused because of insufficient evidence.

But God will punish the actual culprit/s.

What, I, as a simple person, cannot understand, why the famous need more and more support from the congregation. What is bothering those organising that. It looks like a panicky situation.

You guys used to tell CBI is "Congress Bureau Investigation"On the other hand State has Congress Govt which you are telling hesitant to give CBI?When BJP govt was in the state this heinous incident taken place and CID inquiry was ordered up on the request of Family of Soujanya....Now CID is on the verge of wrapping of investigation to submit to the govt...If Govt hesitant to give this inhuman case to CBI then Soujnya's family can go HC requesting for a CBI inquiry....Apart from that CM promised to look in to the case after CID/COD investigation once completed..

Police already arrested the culprit very next day and he admitted his crime. Police having the full evidence and confirmed this. If Sowjanya's parents not satisfied, it doesn't mean that police have to arrest somebody who are not involved in this and satisfy her parents. if anybody know about the real culprits with solid proof, better to approach the court and prsent there instead of blindly blaming somebody

The cops are heros only with unarmed public. The public are not fools anymore to fall for stupid gimmiks and injustice. I fully support the crowd. The poor angel was raped and killed at 17, and the culprits are protected by some highly influential individuals, I hope someone kidnaps their children and repeat the same ordeal, only then will they realize.
