Mangalore: 2.5 kg gold seized at airport in two separate incidents

Mangalore, Oct 25: Customs officials at Mangalore International Airport on Thursday October 24 seized around 2.5 kg of gold which was illegally being brought in two separate flights.

A passenger who landed at the airport from Dubai via Air India Express flight was taken into custody as he had hidden 1.5 kg of gold in his luggage.

In the second incident, a security personnel found 1 kg of gold hidden under the seat of a Jet Airways flight which landed in the airport from Dubai. The gold was handed over to the customs officials.

Six rods of gold coated with steak were found in this case, sources said.

The identities of the passengers and other details were not immedialtely available.

    Alas! 2.5 Kg. gold. Recently gold in large quantity smuggled from Dubai has been detected in Mangalore International Air Port. What the Dubai Air Port Customs are doing? How the Gold is being smuggled from Dubai. Is there no proper checking? This question intriques in everybodys mind.

    How come mangalore customs find gold with passengers coming to mangalore?? what abt other Intl airports in india?? Now a days we hear flash news only from mangalore airport???

    so far I read in D:W:before two weeks also in chennai about 20kilos from two persons and arrested two ôfficers also.India is going to be a Gold Country.to officers (mostly)and others also.
