Doha, Oct 30: Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ) is gearing up to celebrate the 58th Karnataka Rajyotsava Day at Delhi Public School (DPS) Auditorium, Al Wakrah near here on November 15.

Karanataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ) is a premier socio-cultural organization of Kannadigas living in Qatar and is affiliated to Indian Embassy in Doha. KSQ celebrates the Karnataka Rajyotsava every year with great enthusiasm and gaiety to commemorate the formation of Karnataka state on November 1, 1956.

The executive committee of KSQ led by dynamic and innovative president Deepak Shetty is leaving no stone unturned to make this year’s Rajyotsava celebrations a grand success.

Sanjeev Arora, ambasador of India and Dr R Seethraman, Group CEO of Doha Bank will be the chief guest and Dr S P Balasubramaniam will be the guest of honour.

KSQ executive committee has decided to honour one personality from Karnataka for outstanding contribution to Kannada and this year it has chosen B R Laxman Rao.

The special attraction of this year’s celebration will be a music concert by the legendary singer Dr S P Balasubramaniam.

KSQ will also be presenting a cultural programme staged by Tulu Koota, MCC, Bunts Qatar, Qatar Billavas that will portray the traditions and culture of Karnataka state.

Members are requested to carry their KSQ identity cards with them. Those who have forwarded their photos for identity cards are requested to collect them from KSQ officials at Banaras Hall, ICC on October 30 between 7 pm and 9 pm.

Entry passes for non-members will be available from November 4 at Hotel Swagath, Hotel Maharaja, Hotel Maaza, Hotel Kabab House, Hotel Arya's, Akshaya Jewellery and Canara Jewellery.

No food items/water bottles are allowed inside the auditorium.
Tea/biscuits/snacks will be arranged outside the auditorium.

About S P Balasubramaniam

Dr S P Balasubramaniam, also known as SPB or Balu needs no introduction. For years he has been the numero uno singer of the south Indian film industry. He is also a familiar voice in Bollywood as he has rendered some of the best and all-time hits with his sonorous voice.

He has lent his voice in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films as well. He is a well-known voice down south and has won National Award for Best Singer six times.

SPB has sung more than 50,000 songs in 15 different languages in a career spanning four decades and counting. He is the only Indian singer to have achieved the National Award across four languages. He also received the Padmashri in 2001 and Padma Bhushan in 2011.

S P Balasubrahmaniam was born on June 4, 1946 in a Telugu Brahmin family in Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh. He was inclined towards music since his childhood days and used to listen to Tamil and Telugu songs. He is married to Savitri and has two brothers and five sisters. He is also the elder brother of the well-known singer S P Sailaja. He has a daughter, Pallavi and a son called S P B Charan, also a known singer.

S P Balasubrahmaniam made his singing debut on December 15, 1966 with the film Sri Sri Sri Maryada Ramanna, a film scored by his guru S P Kodandapani. He became popular because of his soulful voice and unique style of rendering the songs. His mentor S P Kodandapani was also responsible for shaping up his career.

He went on to become one of the most successful singers in south Indian films. He was so dedicated to music that language could not act as a barrier and as a result, he went on to sing for 15 Indian languages.

S P Balasubrahmaniam made his Hindi film debut as a singer in the film 'Ek Duje Ke Liye' (1986) and also received the National award for best playback singer male. His songs in Maine Pyaar Kiya became extremely successful and he became the voice of Salman Khan as he sang most of his songs from 1989 to 1995.

He has hosted many TV shows in Telugu, Kannada and Tamil languages and won accolades for them. He has also performed in live shows and concerts in India and abroad. S P Balasubrahmaniam has also provided voice-over for actors like Rajnikanth, Kamal Hassan, K Bhagyaraj, Gemini Ganeshan, Nagesh, Karthik, Raghuvarana and Salman Khan in various languages. He was also awarded the 'Best Dubbing Artist' award for dubbing for Suman in the movie Annamayya.

Together with 150-plus awards he has won for singing various songs in various languages, he has also received three Filmfare Awards for Mozhi for the song 'Kannal Pesum Penne' (Tamil) in 2007, Sri Ramadasu for song 'Adigadigo (Telugu) in 2006 and for Maine Pyaar Kiya for the song 'Dil Deewaana' in 1989 in Hindi.
